Background / History

Early cultivation and missed awakening

Tang San cultivated the Mysterious Heaven Skill and Purple Demon Eye alone on a hilltop before dawn. He remained stuck at the first-level bottleneck of the Mysterious Heaven Skill for three months, despite continued progress with the Purple Demon Eye. 420

Shangguan Li interfered with his path by making him miss Holy Spirit Village's martial soul awakening ceremony. Her weakened Soul Shatter attack reduced both his internal force and spiritual power, causing the Purple Demon Eye to fall below the Overview Realm. 420 423

After completing Tang Hao's demand to strike iron ten thousand times, Tang San was taken to Nuoding City for a delayed awakening. His right hand produced Blue Silver Grass, while he felt a second martial soul attempting to emerge from his left hand and suppressed it. His innate Soul Power tested at Rank Seven. 423 424

Holy Spirit Village exile

Tang San later revealed the Clear Sky Hammer as his second martial soul to Tang Hao. Tang Hao began teaching him the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer, while Tang San intensified his Mysterious Heaven Skill cultivation and nearly suffered cultivation deviation; Tang Hao saved him by channeling Soul Power through his meridians. 424

The villagers came to suspect Tang San of harming their children because he alone remained uninjured. Tang San and Tang Hao were ostracized, and Tang San responded with resentment toward the village. 424

Nuoding Academy and Yu Xiaogang

At Nuoding Academy, Tang San killed a gatekeeper with the Silent Sleeve Sword after the man insulted Tang Hao. Yu Xiaogang intervened, then enticed Tang San into becoming his disciple by identifying him as a Twin Martial Soul wielder and implying that he knew the relevant cultivation methods. 425

Tang San reached Level Ten and entered the Soul Hunting Forest with Yu Xiaogang. Shangguan Li had already removed stronger snake-type Spirit Beasts from the area, leaving Tang San to kill and absorb a 120-year Black Phosphorus Snake. 429 430

The ring produced unstable Blue Silver Grass vines that quickly dissipated. Disillusioned by Yu Xiaogang's failure to secure a stronger ring, Tang San nevertheless decided to keep his teacher alive until he could obtain the cultivation method for Twin Martial Souls. 430 431

Tang Sect ambitions

Tang San eventually acknowledged Li Pei as his junior martial sister after deciding that her concern for him was sincere. He taught her a Tang Sect outer-sect technique on the condition that she join the Tang Sect he intends to establish. 250 432

He later became infatuated with Shangguan Li after encountering her in Nuoding City, allowing his interest in her to further strain his relationship with Yu Xiaogang. 437
