Background

Wang Ji was a 17-year-old high-school senior whose predecessor dreamed of becoming a martial artist but had little time to train, reaching only slightly above 500kg in punch force. After transmigrating, Wang Ji gains access to dungeon instances and Essence Source, which become the foundation of his rapid advancement. 1 2

His first dungeon experiences are fatal: he is killed twice by a Shadow Cat after attempting to exploit the aftermath of a martial artist's mutual destruction with a Steel-Bristle Pig. Witnessing the dead martial artist and recognizing the damaged helmet as the one linked to the dungeon makes Wang Ji realize that the instances depict real past events rather than a simple game. 2

Wang Ji initially supports his household through night work at a waste sorting plant while living with his bedridden mother and older sister, Wang Yan. After being fired, he commits himself more fully to martial arts training and enters the Limit Martial Hall. 1 3 4 5

His experiences in the Path of Inheritance clarify his true aspiration. Rather than becoming a local ruler content with wealth and authority, Wang Ji seeks transcendence and unrestricted freedom: the ability to travel wherever he wishes and remain unbound by worldly constraints. 67 86

After gaining access to the Virtual Universe, Wang Ji begins pursuing opportunities beyond Earth. He joins Ganwu Dojo, becomes a peripheral member connected to Meteorite Star's selection system, and later travels through the Dark Universe in person. 67 68 73 93 121

Personality

Wang Ji is intensely driven by survival, strength, and the need to protect his family. Threats against Wang Yan—particularly from Liu Biao and his associates—make him increasingly resolute and ruthless toward those who abuse their power. 3 6

Despite his rapid rise, he remains practical and restrained. He walks away after being cheated of wages, initially saves Essence rather than spending it all impulsively, and chooses manuals based on compatibility rather than reputation. 4 7 31

He is generous toward allies and family, using his earnings to improve his mother and sister's lives, treating Jiang Nian's former squad to an expensive meal, and helping an exploration team in the wilderness. 21 24 30

Wang Ji values freedom above wealth, political influence, and even the comfortable life offered by the Illusion Sea. He rejects being restrained by tangible status and instead pursues the power to transcend all limitations. 67 86 88

As his status rises, Wang Ji becomes increasingly willing to share valuable knowledge and resources when doing so advances Earth and his allies. He shares cultivation insights with Elite Training Camp students, grants China a stake in Wang Alloy, and provides Yuan Zhi with a dedicated research facility. 84 93

  • Deflects an armor-piercing bullet during his battle with the Silver Moon Fierce Wolf. 43

  • Easily withstands the murderous-intent assault produced by integrating a Blood Luo Crystal. 169

  • Selects Mist Sword for its compatibility with the Heavy Mountain Sword and his illusory combat style. 31
  • Masters the second stage of 36-Fold Waves, reaching a 2× force multiplier. 47
  • Argues that the 36-Fold Waves must integrate bones, fascia, muscles, blood, and genetic energy as one system rather than merely stack muscular force. 49
  • Raises his force output to 2.4× after War God Palace discussions. 50
  • Reaches Completion-level swordsmanship after absorbing and comparing the principles behind numerous S-rank, SS-rank, and ultimate techniques. 51
  • Receives Hong's guidance that artistic conception must arise from the practitioner's own heart rather than merely imitating another person's sword intent. 51
  • Cultivates the Moonlight Artistic Conception to its ultimate state through the Moon Illusion Nine Heavens inheritance. 105 111
  • Develops the first move of the temporal secret art Instant Horizon after Yuan Zhi deciphers two foundational mysteries from the Song of Time. 141
  • Combines Blink with sword techniques that can seemingly teleport directly to an opponent. 153

World Pearl and Cosmic Cultivation

Wang Ji possesses the World Pearl, an extraordinary spatial treasure connected to Yuan Zhi and capable of housing an internal origin space. 68 70 90
