After a moment of silence, Naruto laughed. "Heh, I never imagined you were a prince in your past life, Sasuke. I'm almost jealous, apart from the tragic bits. Heh."
Sasuke did not hold Naruto's grinning against him while he was feeling down. He knew Naruto only wanted to comfort him but had no idea how, so he was changing the subject this way.
Sasuke gave Naruto a scornful look and thought, This idiot can't even come up with a few comforting words. Honestly... but I do feel a lot better now. The corners of his lips lifted slightly.
After another stretch of silence, Sasuke said, "Your turn."
Naruto asked in confusion, "My turn for what?"
A vein bulged on Sasuke's forehead, and his tone turned hostile. "Your story."
Understanding dawned on Naruto. "Oh, you mean that. Heh, my story wasn't nearly as exciting as yours. I've lived three lives. In my first life, I was an assassin. I had no family. I was an orphan who grew up in an orphanage. After I left, my master took an interest in me and trained me as an assassin. I killed a lot of people. Then I met a woman I loved dearly. For her, I gave up being an assassin and started living an ordinary life. Who would've thought I'd end up dying at the hands of the woman I loved, after living with her for eight years? It was because I'd killed her father. She'd only been with me to get revenge. Heh, pretty ironic, isn't it?"
Sasuke could tell that although Naruto was smiling, he was hurting inside. To be killed by someone you loved-how cruel was that?
After he finished laughing, Naruto continued, "In my second life, I was reborn into a wealthy family. My dad and mom
