Background / History

Qian Daoliu believed from childhood that he was destined to stand at the peak of the sword path and the Soul Master world. At six, he awakened the Six-winged Angel Martial Soul and Innate Soul Power Level 20, an exceptional starting point shared by members of his bloodline. 2

At fifty, he became a Titled Douluo, inherited the position of Spirit Hall Pope, and undertook the Angel Qian Family's duty of protecting the continent and eliminating Fallen Soul Masters. He later had a son, Qian Xunji, whose martial soul and innate soul power were identical to his own. 2

Before Tang Chen sought his chance to become a god, Qian Daoliu fought him and was slightly defeated. Both men also loved Bo Saixi, though she ultimately chose Tang Chen. 3 7

Qian Daoliu's monologue revealed that Qian Xunji did not die at Tang Hao's hands and that Qian Daoliu had been unable to avenge him. A later Sky Curtain account instead depicts the severely injured Qian Xunji being killed and consumed by Bibi Dong after his failed hunt for a transformed Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast. 2 166

Qian Daoliu is proud, disciplined, and intensely conscious of strength. His initial reaction to ranking tenth was curiosity rather than panic, as he wanted to know who could be placed above a Level 99 Ultimate Douluo. 2

He is notably serious and reserved; Qian Renxue remembers him as a man who almost never smiled. His dignity does not prevent vanity, however: immediately after becoming a god, he flew to Heaven Dou City specifically to display his new power before Tang Chen. 7 223

Despite his pride, Qian Daoliu views Spirit Hall as a force responsible for suppressing evil. He regrets that its eventual disappearance allowed Fallen Soul Masters and the Holy Spirit Cult to flourish in later generations. 2 65
