Background / History

Nine-Tails attack and Academy years

Izumi lost both parents during the Nine-Tails’ attack. Fujiwara Qianye—also called Chiya—pulled her out of an alley shortly before falling rubble destroyed it. At the shelter, she introduced herself, reunited with Itachi, and eventually broke down in Qianye’s arms as he comforted her 1 2.

Their friendship developed throughout their Academy years. Izumi brought him meals, reassured him when she thought he felt overshadowed by Itachi, and supplied ninjutsu materials. Mindful of clan restrictions, she offered common techniques rather than secrets whose disclosure might put him in conflict with the Uchiha 4 5.

Izumi also recognized that Chiya was using Shadow Clones to attend school. She identified differences in his eyes and behavior through close observation, rather than a special Sharingan ability 6.
