A seemingly delicate young woman, she led the last remaining human forces and purified Grommash Hellscream's Demon Blood! And during Ragnarok, she had stood on the front lines against the Burning Legion!
If he wanted to change the things that left him with regrets and save those who had met tragic ends, could there be a better choice than changing Jaina's fate?
Taelan Fordring made up his mind. Since he had accepted that legendary quest, he would try to do something for this girl!
Jaina bit down on her lower lip. Beads of sweat covered her forehead, and a strand of golden hair, damp with sweat, clung to her left cheek. The color had drained from her face. Pain throbbed beneath her neck; that dagger had to be razor-sharp!
The person behind her mechanically pushed her deeper into the narrow alley, taking a detour toward Dalaran's main gate.
Looks like this job's in the bag! The boss will definitely reward me when I get back! The street was growing dark. There were hardly any magical streetlamps in this back alley, and the kidnapper's tense nerves began to relax. Dalaran was nothing special!
Yet history had taught us that when you let down your guard and start mocking your opponent, you're not far from trouble! (Cao Cao: ...) To the kidnapper, what happened next was so absurd that he wondered if he was dreaming!
He was only 0.000125 Everest away from completing his mission and escaping Dalaran! The cat in the girl's arms was ridiculously cute! Just then, the beautiful Ragdoll cat leaped out of her arms! In midair, it turned into an incredibly endearing boy. He was so warm and kind—but then he pulled out a shield bearing Lordaeron's emblem, and that shield smashed him right in the face! His well-trained body reacted instantly: dodge! But even though the boy's movements were all over the place, that damned shield still smacked him squarely in the face!
Dodge failed! He figured he was at least fifty levels above this kid. He could kill him instantly! And yet he'd still been hit! A wave of dizziness, one that shouldn't have been possible, washed over him. He'd been stunned by Shield Slam!
Jaina stared blankly as her cat turned into a handsome boy! Just when she was being kidnapped—and might even have been killed—he had dropped out of the sky and saved her!
Holy Light shone around him like a pure white cloak. He stood before her like an angel! The Blue Child hung high in the night sky behind him. His Holy Light was warm and powerful! He even smelled wonderful, like sunshine! The events of that moment were etched into Jaina's heart like a painting!
Meanwhile, Taelan Fordring knew he was in deep trouble! Sure enough, changing fate came at a price! He could almost feel his life slipping away like sand through his fingers!
"Ding! You have received a new quest!

This pendant, engraved with a portrait of Jaina, had always been one of her treasured possessions—until she met a boy who could turn into a Ragdoll cat!
Taelan Fordring knew that if he let the Dragonkin General shake off the stun, he and Jaina would last only two seconds: one blow each, one second per blow. His mind raced, and he didn't dare stop using Mortal Strike! Its guaranteed hit and brief stun had saved him! But he knew the skill hit hard without doing much damage. The level gap was just too great. The bonus true damage might only be in the single digits. And his mana wasn't unlimited! He might not even survive one of the other guy's attacks.
Of course, that wasn't how it looked to Jaina! This little angel, her guardian, was beating the kidnapper so badly he couldn't fight back, leaving him to take hit after hit. Even after he triggered Evasion three times and Block twice, that shield still somehow smacked him in the face.
Only Taelan Fordring knew how bad things really were! Between two Mortal Strikes, he shouted to Jaina, "Run!" But Jaina, loyal to a fault, didn't move! Taelan Fordring's mouth went dry. He couldn't help thinking:
"Jaina, are you not running because you're afraid I'll loot your gear?"
All that might take a few minutes to write, but in reality, it had all happened in the blink of an eye! Damn it! Had there been a murder here or something? Why wasn't a single passerby around?
Right, this was the entrance to the sewers. The sewers were another world, one ordinary people avoided at all costs! As his mana began to drain, Taelan Fordring decisively used Blessing of Tirion Fordring and followed it with Big Brick! With a bang, the kidnapper was stunned on the spot. Then a notification informed him that his accuracy had increased.
Taelan Fordring didn't even look at the level 55 elite Dragonkin General! He grabbed Jaina's little hand and pulled open the iron grate at the entrance. His attributes had saved him, giving him tremendous strength, and the two of them charged into the sewers. The smell wasn't great, but it wasn't as foul as he'd imagined. Taelan Fordring pulled Jaina along, running toward the place he remembered. Soon, the sound of running footsteps came from behind them—an irregular rhythm, and possibly more than one person. It was the death knell, coming for them!
They had to hurry! The two ran one behind the other, until the boy suddenly stopped. A large rat stood atop a steep slope, with four little turtles around it! This was it! There was a garbage heap near the slope, covered with little bottles in all sorts of colors!
Thank the Holy Light! They were really here!
Taelan Fordring released Jaina's sweaty little hand and said, "Go over there and look for a green bottle! Tell me when you find one!"
In World of Warcraft, the bottles here were called Sewer Elixirs. They had three possible effects: City of Mages, Tuskarr Fishing Expert, and Little Bee. The bottles came in all sorts of colors, and testing them one by one would mean risking death with every try! The first two effects clearly corresponded to the purple of Arcane magic and the blue of Frost magic. So if that was right, turning into a Little Bee should correspond to the green of Nature magic!
Jaina didn't care about getting dirty and immediately started rummaging through the trash. By then, the Dragonkin General had caught up. He glanced at Taelan Fordring, hatred in his eyes, but paid him no more attention. The mission came first!
That boy was a real nuisance. His attacks barely hurt, but they were downright humiliating! Once he had the girl under control, he'd deal with the boy!
So he charged at Jaina, who was rummaging through the garbage!
