Jaina blushed. She turned and went inside, picked up the kettle, and poured herself a glass of water. As she sipped it, she took out the wand Taelan had given her and gently ran her hand over its shaft, which was carved with a simple pattern.
Daelin watched his daughter staring at a wand and asked, "Jaina, did that boy give you this wand too?"
"Yes! We caught the mage who turned him into a cat. They became friends, and the mage gave Taelan this wand as an apology for turning him into a cat yesterday."
Daelin took the wand from his daughter, looking a little surprised. "This magical item may not be very high-level, but the magic it contains is impressive. That boy must be quite generous!"
"What did he say to him? How did he get him to give away such a practical magical item?"
When Daelin asked about Taelan, Jaina excitedly recounted what he had said. After listening, Daelin suddenly interrupted his daughter, who was about to say more. "It's impressive that he's thought of all this. You should learn from him and try to understand the world better.
"You can be friends with him in the future and listen to his opinions." Jaina didn't quite understand the first part, but she was still very happy that her father had given her permission to be friends with Taelan.
She decided that if she got the chance tomorrow, she would take another walk around Dalaran with Taelan. There were still plenty of places in the commercial district she hadn't visited!
The next morning, Tirion adjusted his tie and helped Taelan, who wasn't used to formal clothes, get dressed. Taelan said, "Father, I think an Archmage would care more about a person's character and talent." Tirion immediately disagreed. "Your mother used to say that dressing neatly and formally is a way to show respect for others. It's part of good manners. You'll be studying in Dalaran for several years. Your mentor's attitude and support will be very important to you!"
When Taelan Fordring heard the words "your mother used to say," he had no answer. But inwardly, he grumbled, Who knows if Dalaran will even last several years? The Third War changed the fates of many people. It would even affect the shape of the world decades later.
But he didn't dare say it aloud. The Dragonkin General's situation had shown him the power of fate. If he wanted to change anything, he would have to pay a price.
The price of fate was more than he could bear at present. What he should do was respect other people's destinies and offer them another choice when the moment came! Only when he had gained great power would he be able to face fate's challenges on his own terms!
Father and son enjoyed breakfast together in a pleasant atmosphere, then took some gifts and went to visit Archmage Krasus.
Krasus seemed like a stern, steady person. He was always kind to others. But he had a secret few people knew: he was a dragon! A Red Dragon, and Alexstrasza the Life-Binder's favorite consort. But the Red Dragon Queen had gone missing! In this world, Gul'dan's betrayal had kept the Dragonmaw Clan from giving Warchief Ogrimm Doomhammer much help, and he had eventually been defeated. But it had also left the Red Dragon Queen enslaved by the Orcs.
In fact, this was the more reasonable course of events. How could the Orcs possibly control the Demon Soul for so long? It was all thanks to Deathwing's help. Once the Orcs were no longer useful, Deathwing would inevitably find a way to control the Dragonmaw Clan. Then, through the Demon Soul, he would keep the Red Dragon Queen under his control. The original story had a plot hole: if the Red Dragons had escaped their captivity early, do you think they would have burned every Orc to ash?
The real reason was that the story of Rhonin, the chosen one, had been added later!
So Krasus, the Queen's consort, was always trying to find a way to save her. He had already decided to train a human or High Elf in Dalaran to help him with the task. Because the Demon Soul controlled the four Dragonflights, there was no point in Krasus summoning the ordinary dragons of Wyrmrest Temple. That would just be sending them to the Orcs as easy prey!
He already had a target in mind: the infamous troublemaker of Dalaran, Rhonin!
Yesterday, he had noticed something interesting: the Dragon Aspect of the Black Dragonflight was plotting something. He had sent several high-ranking Dragonkin to infiltrate Dalaran and abduct Jaina, the Princess of Kul Tiras. Then an intriguing child had caught his attention: Taelan Fordring. The boy possessed a special power, World Power, which only those acknowledged by the world's source could wield! Only the Dragon Aspects in this world could sense that special energy. It was a kind of natural Affinity!
So when Antonidas had asked him to be Taelan's Occultism tutor, he had gladly accepted. The boy wielded the Holy Light, and with proper training, once he learned the necessary skills, he could team up with Rhonin and form a special squad to rescue the Queen!
Today, Tirion Fordring had brought his son to meet his future mentor! Krasus soon had them shown into his study.
Krasus first asked about Taelan Fordring's health. Then he used the Eye of Truth to examine Taelan in detail. He and Antonidas had reached the same conclusion: Taelan's soul had not been harmed, but the memories he had lost would be difficult to recover. They could only return bit by bit if he encountered some unusual event or stimulus in his daily life. Fortunately, he was only a few years old and had led a simple life, so this wouldn't affect his future. Krasus did know how to relieve the headaches and other symptoms. He planned to suggest to Antonidas that they give Taelan a copy of Dalaran's prized Eye of Violet to wear. It would solve the problem caused by his young body's limited capacity for the Holy Light, which made it unable to bear such powerful supernatural forces!
Taelan's mana bar was too short to sustain the use of those powerful abilities. This was actually because the Nephalem and World of Warcraft characters had different systems. Nephalem restored their health and mana through dual leech and regeneration, while those in Azeroth relied on mana regeneration and equipment. Once he reached level 12 or 30 and learned Zeal and Fist of the Heavens, two powerful instant-cast skills, they would quickly drain his mana bar. Without dual leech, he couldn't keep using Zeal. The Paladin skills he had learned from World of Warcraft consumed a percentage of his base mana to channel the Holy Light. Skills like Hammer of Justice were even bigger mana hogs! When his Holy Light ran low, it would drain his soul, or even his life force. That was why he so often suffered from insomnia and headaches.
When Tirion heard the Archmage say that the Eye of Dalaran could relieve his son's headaches, he felt a headache coming on himself.
He knew how valuable that treasure was. Dalaran's mages had made it from expensive materials, modeling it on the genuine artifact, the Eye of Violet. It was said that the Arcane Crystals alone had cost a fortune. And magical alchemical creations were always in high demand! He was glad his son could be saved, but worried about how he could repay his debt to Dalaran.
Taelan didn't want to put his father in a difficult position, so he said to Tirion Fordring, "Father, don't worry. I don't need something that expensive. I'll be fine once I grow up and my body gets stronger!"
Krasus looked at young Taelan approvingly. "Don't worry, child! I'll find a way."
