Tirion Fordring and Daelin sipped their rum, watching the children huddle together to flip through that old book, and smiled at each other. In their youth, the responsibilities of nation and people and the heavy burdens of life had weighed upon them. Now, in middle age, their only solace was the next generation. How profound is the heart of a parent!
Because of the fusion of two souls, Taelan Fordring possessed an incredibly strong learning ability. Merely by comparing his progress to what Jaina read aloud, he parsed the text character by character, and before long, he had already memorized quite a few sentences. This caused Jaina to exclaim in wonder, "If you changed your path to become a mage, you would likely find success much more easily than as a Paladin!"
Taelan Fordring, however, knew he did not have that much time. The Battle of Grim Batol and the Third War would arrive soon. More dangers awaited him, and he was still far from where he needed to be.
Archmage Krasus had certainly seen his talent and wanted to cultivate him to take his place in saving his beloved. In the original history, the reason Rhonin succeeded in rescuing the Red Dragon Queen was due to his unique encounters and a great deal of luck. Thus, Krasus needed someone he could trust more to assist him.
He had to work hard. For every day the Red Dragon Queen remained controlled, Deathwing grew a fraction stronger. The world of Azeroth could not function without the Dragon Aspects.
Alexstrasza was the most steadfast warrior against the Burning Legion. Even after she was harmed by the Orcs and no one came to her rescue, she did not complain, silently shouldering the responsibility of a Dragon Aspect.
She fought for the world with more dedication than the Black Dragon who had fallen into darkness or the Blue Dragon who had gone mad. Meanwhile, the gentle and reclusive Ysera found it difficult to lead the dragonflights in a unified front. He had to grow strong quickly to share this burden! She had been carrying it alone for too long.
With Jaina's help, his understanding of the world's spellcasting system deepened. Jaina suggested he buy some books in the High Elven language tomorrow to serve as his future study materials. After all, it was best not to let a mage with whom trust had not yet been established see this Dragon Codex. Taelan Fordring inwardly praised Jaina for being such a clever child. He also knew that letting other mages see this book would be like giving a cat a pillow made of salted fish.
The next day, Tirion Fordring took his son to visit that famous tragic prince. He was of noble status, yet he had suffered repeated disasters, his country broken and his family lost. His romance had ended before it even began! All that remained, perhaps, were that wish-coin and the mockery of his rival.
Later, he would lead his people to resist the undead, only to be sabotaged by that "genius" Garithos. After defecting to Illidan, he was betrayed again, eventually falling into the abyss, his soul severed in Outland, unable to return to his homeland.
The prince spoke cordially with Tirion Fordring. Upon hearing that Tirion intended to open Hearthglen and allow his private trading company to establish a shop for magical supplies, dealing in High Elven artifacts and specialties, he thanked Tirion with a salute. When he heard that Tirion wanted his son to learn the High Elven language, he immediately appointed his follower, the Grand Astromancer Solarian, as a special envoy to accompany Tirion to Hearthglen. She would serve as a tutor to teach Taelan the High Elven language and combat skills, while also managing the business of the Kael'thas Trading Company branch in Hearthglen.
High Elves possessed long lifespans, and most were multi-talented. As an astromancer, Solarian also understood many training methods for melee combatants.
This decision was beneficial to both sides. Prince Kael'thas could obtain large quantities of grain and gold through this trade, while Hearthglen would not only gain access to the magical artifacts of Quel'Thalas but also receive substantial tax revenue. After the banquet, as the father and son walked out of Kael'thas's luxurious mage tower, they were invited to the Violet Citadel by an apprentice of Antonidas.
Upon entering Antonidas's study, Taelan saw three people sitting inside. One was Antonidas, another was his mentor Krasus, and the third was an archmage wearing slightly soiled mage robes. His complexion appeared somewhat pale, and powerful mana fluctuations radiated from his body. It was clear he was a legendary-level mage.
Could it be that cat-loving man?
Taelan Fordring politely greeted Antonidas and his mentor. Then, Antonidas introduced him: "This is an archmage of Dalaran, his name is Kel'Thuzad."
It was indeed him. However, he should not have heard the whispers of the Lich King yet, so he was merely a recluse who had not yet begun researching necromancy.
Taelan Fordring greeted him politely: "Greetings, Archmage Kel'Thuzad!"
Kel'Thuzad merely nodded: "I know of you! The little goblin mentioned you to me."
At this moment, Antonidas took an exquisite box from his desk and cast a spell; a purple radiance flashed, and the box opened. Antonidas removed an ornament shaped like a purple eye and handed it to Taelan Fordring.
"Ding! You have obtained the Violet Eye Pendant!"
Violet Eye Pendant
Trinket
Quality: Epic
+40 Intellect
Use: Each spell cast within 20 seconds grants you a stackable effect that restores 21 mana every 5 seconds, ending after 20 seconds. Skills that do not consume mana will not trigger this effect. (2-minute cooldown)
Mom doesn't have to worry about my brain not being enough anymore!
System, are these quips written by you to mock me?
"Ding, no!"
Looking at this piece of equipment that was overpowered to the point of explosion back in the day, one couldn't help but sigh. It was a precious drop from the Karazhan boss, Nielas Aran! It not only provided a massive 40-point boost to Intellect, but even without considering the spell critical strike chance provided by Intellect, it also significantly increased one's mana pool. The active effect made it the king of sustainability. Once he reached level 12 and learned Zeal, as long as he activated the effect, he would have almost inexhaustible mana. Even the mana-hungry Fist of the Heavens could be cast several more times.
As Taelan Fordring grasped the Violet Eye, a cooling sensation flowed into his mind, making him feel that the headache that had been plaguing him lately had vanished. He no longer needed to consume soul energy to support his skill tree. From now on, he wouldn't have to worry about running out of mana so often.
Seeing his son's brow unfurrow, Tirion Fordring immediately stood up to thank Antonidas. He knew that although this was only a replica of the Violet Eye, it was still an extremely precious treasure. He spoke: "I truly don't know how to thank you, Archmages! Is there anything I can do to help you?"
Antonidas smiled and said: "Tirion, don't worry about it. This was obtained by Master Krasus using his own collection to trade with the Council. You can thank him!"
Tirion Fordring immediately saluted Krasus and Antonidas, promising: "Thank you both for the efforts you have made for my son. If Dalaran ever has any need of me in the future, please be sure to let me know!"
Krasus smiled and said: "This is my gift for Taelan's apprenticeship! We will have a long time to spend together in the future. Taelan, use it well! You will inevitably shoulder certain responsibilities in the future, so grow up quickly!
I have already heard that Solarian has been hired as your tutor. She is a diligent legendary spellcaster; you should learn much from her regarding the occultism of the High Elves!"
Taelan Fordring bowed: "I will, Master!"
Everyone chatted for a while longer, and Krasus's profound knowledge left the father and son in awe. Only Kel'Thuzad remained silent throughout. He merely watched Taelan Fordring with envy for a moment before looking away.
After Krasus led them away from Antonidas and his apprentice, Krasus said to Tirion Fordring: "Archmage Kel'Thuzad is envious of Taelan's constitution. Because the mages of this world must communicate with the forces of the Elemental Plane before they can use them. He, however, can directly absorb energy from the natural world and then convert it into Holy Light within his body. In other words, your Holy Light belongs entirely to you. You can use it as you wish!"
He then added: "You are still young; do not become obsessed with power. Laying a solid foundation and possessing a strong heart is what constitutes true power!"
