Background

Madara was one of Konoha's co-rulers at its founding, alongside Hashirama Senju. Official Konoha archives continued to list him in that capacity even after his death, rather than rewriting him solely as a rogue ninja. His break with Konoha began as an ideological conflict, though he later attacked the village with the Nine-Tails and fought Hashirama at the Valley of the End. 72

After surviving through Izanagi, Madara stole Hashirama's flesh and eventually awakened the Rinnegan. The cost was severe: by the time he could summon the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, his body had deteriorated to the point that it could only survive while connected to it. 41 55

Unable to enact his Eye of the Moon Plan personally, Madara arranged for Nagato to bear the Rinnegan and sought Uchiha successors who could guide, control, or replace him. He initially regarded Kamizuki as a useful but unsuitable candidate: immensely talented, yet too clear-eyed and difficult to manipulate. 41

After Kamizuki's clash with the Third Raikage, Madara shelters him in his underground palace and attempts to recruit him as his successor. Their relationship develops through repeated ideological arguments, training, and combat, with Kamizuki consistently rejecting the Eye of the Moon Plan. 55 57 58

Appearance

In his aged underground state, Madara has withered white hair, scarlet Sharingan, and relies on a scythe as a cane. After his restoration, he fights in fitted dark combat armor bearing the Uchiha crest. 55 225

  • Carries the Uchiha Flame Fan on his back in battle. 225
  • Wields a chained scythe, with its chain wrapped around his waist and arms. 225
  • His Eternal Mangekyō patterns are visible before the Bellflower Mountain battle begins. 225
  • His Maha Divine Tree form reveals a face formed after Hashirama Cells were implanted, along with altered Susanoo armor, ten tail-feathers, Truth-Seeking Orbs, and a crystalline forehead shield. 228

Personality

Madara is an uncompromising idealist who seeks a world without losers through the Eye of the Moon Plan. He believes ordinary mutual understanding cannot end conflict and sees himself and Kamizuki as beings chosen to bring order to humanity. 41 57

He is intensely proud, dismissive of most people, and particularly contemptuous of Uchiha who did not follow him. Despite this arrogance, he recognizes exceptional strength and talent without reservation; Kamizuki's defiance, combat ability, and unusual maturity earn his respect. 58 59

Madara's fixation on his dream makes him reluctant to accept defeat. Even after Kamizuki defeats him, he initially vows to destroy Kamizuki's dream rather than concede that his own ideal has failed. 231

Abilities & Skills

Dōjutsu

Madara possesses the Sharingan, Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, and Rinnegan. His ocular abilities underpin both his battlefield control and his pursuit of Yin Release's creative potential.

  • Awakened the Rinnegan through Uchiha and Senju power, attaining access to the power of All Things in Nature. 41
  • Uses Limbo: Border Jail, a Rinnegan technique that creates shadow entities. 74
  • Manifests Susanoo, an ultimate ocular technique normally associated with the Mangekyō Sharingan. 58
  • Reclaims the Eternal Mangekyō portion of his power from Nagato before fighting Kamizuki. 225
  • His later Rinnegan are enhanced by the Sage of Six Paths and bear tomoe. 202 225

Susanoo and Maha Divine Tree

Madara's Susanoo can serve as both a direct weapon and a means of buying time, concealing allies, or creating space for a larger strategy.

  • Produces a Susanoo over six hundred meters tall during the Bellflower Mountain battle. 228
  • Infuses it with Ten-Tails Chakra, evolving it into Maha Divine Tree form. 228
  • Uses Susanoo to delay and conceal his side from Ōtsutsuki Shinku while Kamizuki prepares an attack. 204
  • Its Complete Body form can be shattered by Shinku's beam, demonstrating that it is insufficient alone against high-level Ōtsutsuki threats. 206

Taijutsu and Combat Analysis

Madara's fighting style is built on experience from the Warring States era, technical precision, and the ability to adapt instantly under pressure.

  • Fought Hashirama repeatedly and entered the total-focus state he calls flow. 55
  • Creates a combat style for Kamizuki by combining Hashirama-like weight and force with Uchiha precision. 58
  • Can neutralize Kamizuki's overwhelming close-range attacks without moving from his position. 59
  • Defeats Hajime Kashimo with a single glance, illustrating the gap between Madara and ordinary challengers. 212

Fire Style and Sage Art

Madara is regarded by Kamizuki as an unmatched Fire Style user and can fuse his elemental mastery with Sage Chakra.

  • Uses Fire Style against Kamizuki during their early duel. 58
  • Develops Sage Art: Flame Storm Sealing Wall on the spot by combining the Flame Fan's Wind Style, Fire Style, Sage Chakra, and principles drawn from Hashirama's Wooden Barricade. 206
  • Uses natural energy to make his attacks effective against Ōtsutsuki opponents, whose Chakra absorption renders conventional ninjutsu unreliable. 204

Reverse Cursed Technique

After receiving the Sage of Six Paths' knowledge, Madara learns Reverse Cursed Technique at an exceptional rate.

  • Masters the technique in less than a minute. 204
  • Can restore vital organs, including a heart. 204
  • Uses the technique to remain alive long enough to intervene and save Kamizuki from Shinku. 200
