Background / History

Obito grew up in Konoha alongside Uchiha Kou and Nohara Rin. As a child, he was energetic, sentimental, and eager to be useful, even proposing that the three leave messages for their future selves in a time capsule 228 229. He defended Kou when Kakashi dismissed Kou’s talent, showing an early loyalty toward his friend 40.

During the Battle of Kannabi Bridge, Obito was presumed dead. He was instead rescued by Uchiha Madara, whose use of Hashirama Cells restored his devastated body 215. Madara subsequently arranged for Obito to witness Rin’s death at Kakashi’s hand; the trauma awakened Obito’s Mangekyō Sharingan and left him susceptible to Madara’s ideology 215 216.

Obito accepted the Eye of the Moon Plan and the goal of placing the entire world into an eternal dream. After inheriting Madara’s legacy and training, he began operating under Madara’s name while concealing himself behind masks and false identities 215. He caused the Nine-Tails Incident, forced Kou into Akatsuki, and aided Itachi in the Uchiha clan massacre 214.

Behind the performance, Obito is patient, manipulative, and intensely protective of the Eye of the Moon Plan.
