Sure enough, on a distant planet—within the God of Destruction Realm—a cat-like being wearing tattered pajamas and golden collars stirred awake. He was the strongest combatant in the universe: Beerus the God of Destruction.

"Only 39 years? I wanted to sleep a little longer!" Beerus licked his hand with his tongue, revealing a feline expression.

Whis asked, "Lord Beerus, was the sleep satisfactory this time?"

At the mention of this, an image surfaced in Beerus's mind—he had dreamt of a formidable rival, the Super Saiyan God.

Beerus immediately asked Whis, "Is there anyone in our universe called the Super Saiyan God?"

Whis was slightly surprised, as he knew it was Beerus who had ordered Frieza to destroy Planet Vegeta.
