"Food competition?"
Vegeta's mouth twitched violently.
"I'm talking about you two Gods of Destruction. Can't you do something worthwhile?"
"A contest over food? That's so boring."
He had thought it would be some earth-shattering battle, but it turned out to be a food contest. Vegeta, who only cared about getting stronger, looked utterly disdainful.
Son Goku, on the other hand, lit up at once. He rubbed his round belly and walked over to the stone table, staring at the machine with eager anticipation.
"Food? What kind of tasty stuff is it?"
"Is it better than Earth's barbecue?"
Seeing Beerus fixated on the machine, Champa looked even more pleased with himself. He waved at Vados.
"Vados, open it up and show Beerus what true top-tier cuisine in the universe looks like!"
Vados nodded and lightly pressed the button on the side of the machine.
With a soft click, the lid popped open automatically, revealing several neatly arranged objects inside—emerald-green eggs with a faint sheen on their shells. They looked like the eggs of some rare bird.
"Aren't these just ordinary eggs?"
Son Goku leaned closer and scratched his head, looking a little disappointed.
"I thought it'd be some kind of special food. I've eaten lots of eggs. Earth's tea eggs and boiled eggs are pretty tasty."
"Ordinary eggs? What do you know!"
Champa immediately glared at Son Goku, his voice brimming with pride.
"These are boiled Dongdong Bird eggs, a specialty of Universe 6!"
"The Dongdong Bird is the rarest creature in Universe 6. Its eggs are packed with nutrients. A single bite is like ten or fifteen days of training, and the taste is absolutely unique!"
Vados waved her staff. Several soft glimmers of light flashed, and the boiled Dongdong Bird eggs inside the machine were sent to everyone.
"Everyone, go ahead and try them. They really are a rare delicacy from Universe 6."
Son Goku could hardly wait. As soon as he got an egg, he cracked it open with his hands.
The egg white inside was a pale green, with wisps of steam rising from it. A fresh, pleasant aroma wafted over.
He took a big bite without hesitation. After chewing a few times, his eyes widened.
"Wow! This is delicious!"
"It's way tastier than an ordinary boiled egg, and the texture is so tender and smooth!"
Son Gohan slowly peeled his egg and took a small bite. A pleased smile appeared on his face.
"It really is good. The flavor is fresh, and I feel much lighter after eating it."
Vegeta frowned and reluctantly peeled an egg, taking a small bite.
He savored it carefully, then furrowed his brows even more.
"It's nothing special. It's not much better than Earth eggs."
"Champa, was all this fuss really necessary?"
Champa ignored Vegeta's complaints. Seeing Son Goku and Son Gohan praising the eggs, he immediately stood up proudly, hands on his hips.
"Well? Beerus!"
"My boiled Dongdong Bird eggs taste good, don't they?"
"Now you'll admit that Universe 6 has better food than Universe 7, right?"
"I declare myself the winner of this food contest!"
Beerus slowly peeled his egg and ate it one bite at a time, his expression unreadable.
Only after he had finished the last bite did he look up at Champa and speak casually.
"Why are you in such a hurry? The contest isn't over yet."
"Whis, bring out the thing I asked you to put away a few days ago."
"Certainly, Lord Beerus."
Whis smiled faintly and waved his hand. An exquisite glass plate appeared out of nowhere on the stone table.
The plate held more than a dozen colorful jellies—red, yellow, and blue. They were crystal-clear, like little colored gemstones.
"What is this?"
Champa leaned over curiously, squinting at the jellies.
"They look all sticky, like frozen slime. Can you even eat these?"
Vados also looked puzzled. She had lived for so long and traveled to every corner of Universe 6, but she had never seen food like this.
"This is jelly from Earth."
Beerus smiled confidently.
"Bulma brought it to me a few days ago. She said it's a popular dessert on Earth."
"Champa, you said the food in Universe 6 was the best. Try this before you make your judgment."
Champa curled his lip and said disdainfully:
"Dessert? I'm not interested in things kids eat."
"But since it's part of your contest, I'll give it a try."
He picked up a red jelly, hesitated, then put it in his mouth.
The next second, Champa's eyes flew wide open.
The jelly was cool as it entered his mouth, with a rich strawberry aroma. It was springy and smooth, and its sweet flavor burst across his tongue without becoming cloying.
He had never experienced such a unique texture before!
"Th-this flavor!"
Champa couldn't help exclaiming. Forgetting all about his earlier disdain, he grabbed the jellies on the plate and stuffed them into his mouth.
"Delicious! So delicious!"
Vados picked up a blue jelly and tried it too. A flash of amazement crossed her eyes.
"It really is delicious. It's sweet and cool, and the texture is unusual too. I never expected Universe 7 to have food this good."
In no time, Champa had eaten every jelly on the plate.
He even stuck out his tongue and licked the leftover juice off the plate until it was completely clean.
Seeing Champa in such a sorry state, Beerus smiled even more broadly.
"So, Champa? What do you think?"
"Earth's jelly is way better than your boiled Dongdong Bird eggs, isn't it?"
Only then did Champa realize how bad he must have looked while eating. His cheeks flushed bright red, and he was so embarrassed he nearly broke into a cold sweat.
He stubbornly lifted his chin and retorted:
"G-good? What are you talking about!"
"It's nothing special. It's nowhere near as good as my boiled Dongdong Bird eggs!"
"I only ate so much because I was curious."
"Oh? Is that so?"
Beerus pointed at the plate, which gleamed from being licked clean, and gave him a knowing look.
"Then why did you lick the plate clean?"
"Is the God of Destruction of Universe 6 always this frugal?"
"You!"
Champa was speechless, unable to think of a rebuttal.
He knew very well that the jelly tasted far better than his boiled Dongdong Bird eggs. He had already lost the contest.
After a few seconds of silence, Champa suddenly looked at Beerus, urgency in his eyes.
"Beerus, did you just say this jelly was food from Earth?"
"That's right."
Beerus nodded.
"Earth really is a gourmet planet. A delicacy like jelly is only the tip of the iceberg."
"Hot pot, barbecue, ramen, cake... and lots of other foods you can't imagine. They're all far better than your boiled Dongdong Bird eggs."
Champa's eyes grew brighter as he listened. His embarrassment had vanished without a trace, replaced by intense longing.
"There's that much good food?"
"No way—I have to go to Earth and try it!"
He turned sharply to Vados and urged her:
"Vados! Hurry! Find the Earth in Universe 6!"
"Universe 6 and Universe 7 exist as a pair. Since you have an Earth here, we must have one too!"
"I'm going to Earth in Universe 6 to find food even better than jelly!"
Vados nodded and waved her staff. A beam of light projected into the air, forming a vast star map of the universe.
Her gaze swept rapidly across the map as she searched for the planet corresponding to Earth in Universe 7.
Before long, Vados's gaze stopped at a corner of the star map, and a complicated expression appeared on her face.
She sighed softly and lowered her staff.
