Background / History

Shen Ming served as the Pagoda Master of the Eastsea City Spirit Pagoda when Leon awakened his unusual Martial Soul. He discreetly probed Leon's soul power, arranged a free mental-power test, and recognized the value of Leon's exceptional potential despite initially suspecting that the child had mental issues. 2 3

He recruited Leon as his disciple with an offer of a hundred-year Soul Ring, a monthly allowance of 10,000 Federal Credits, and cultivation resources. When Leon requested support for his orphanage, Shen Ming promised a monthly subsidy of approximately 50,000 credits, a complete renovation, and Spirit Pagoda opportunities for talented orphans. 3

After taking Leon from the orphanage, Shen Ming had the boy's background records destroyed to prevent higher-ranking Spirit Pagoda officials from discovering him too early. He believed the organization's internal politics could turn a gifted child into a political sacrifice, particularly if the Qiangu Family noticed him. 4 21

Years later, Leon—then known as Li Ang and a teacher at Shrek Academy—returned to Eastsea City to thank Shen Ming. He brought Shen Ming a high-quality Two-Word Battle Armor, spirit herbs, and pills before preparing to depart for the Star Luo Continent. 111 112 113

Personality

Shen Ming is pragmatic and highly attuned to talent. His decision to accept Leon as a disciple was driven partly by Leon's immense potential, but he also invested substantial resources into the orphanage and Leon's education rather than merely claiming the child as an asset. 3 4

He is protective of Leon and distrustful of Spirit Pagoda headquarters politics. Rather than report Leon's talents upward, he concealed the boy's records and later resisted Leng Yaozhu's attempt to relocate him, fearing the Qiangu Family would either subjugate or eliminate such a gifted individual. 4 21

Shen Ming takes great pride in Leon's achievements and is prone to boasting about them, particularly in front of Leng Yaozhu.
