Zi Ling awakens with Lin Mo on Dragon Spine Snow Mountain and discovers a master-servant contract on her forehead. The contract prevents her from leaving the mountain and places Lin Mo in a position of authority over her. Though initially hostile, she agrees to assist his recovery and search for Ten-Thousand-Year Profound Ice Marrow in exchange for dissolution of the contract. 52 53

While traveling with Lin Mo through the Icebound Forest, she helps investigate the Frost Dragon's burial ground, reassembles its skeleton, and assists in collecting regional resources. Their guarded arrangement gradually becomes a functional partnership after Lin Mo demonstrates his new ice abilities and teaches her to fly using her leaves. 54 55 56

Zi Ling is highly wary of human society. Although she has passed through human cities before, she never dared remain for long; Lin Mo notes that her ability to escape the Titan Giant Ape and Sky Azure Bull Python demonstrates exceptional survival skills. 57

She assists Lin Mo's infiltration of the Tianshui Ancestral Residence by using sleep powder, then accompanies him into the ancient well containing Ten-Thousand-Year Profound Ice Marrow.
