Copying the Kurama Clan's Kekkei Genkai

"Tsunade, do you know about some of Konoha's Kekkei Genkai?"

After getting up in the morning, Shin asked Tsunade as they ate breakfast.

Tsunade glanced at Shin in confusion, then said, "Kekkei Genkai are extremely rare in the Shinobi World. There aren't many shinobi in Konoha who possess one, either."

"The Uchiha Clan's Sharingan, the Hyuga Clan's Byakugan, and the Senju Clan's Sage Body. Then there's your Uzumaki Clan, and, oh, finally, the Kurama Clan."

At the mention of the Kurama Clan, Shin's eyes suddenly lit up. He really had

forgotten about this clan.

Now that Tsunade had reminded him, Shin remembered. This clan possessed a powerful Kekkei Genkai: Five Senses Manipulation.

A genjutsu that could control the five senses and make illusions become real—this was practically the pinnacle of Yin Release.

Yin Release could create form from nothing, while Yang Release could breathe life into form. Yin-Yang Release was a technique capable of creating life.

Shin didn't know whether this ability to control the five senses could compare to Aizen Sosuke's Zanpakuto, Kyoka Suigetsu, from the world of the God of Death, but it certainly wouldn't be weak.

It probably wasn't as terrifying as Aizen's

Kyoka Suigetsu. Otherwise, the Kurama Clan wouldn't have dwindled into a small clan.

If they could truly control all five senses completely, it wouldn't be impossible for them to dominate the Shinobi World. The Kurama Clan's ability couldn't possibly be that terrifying.

"Tsunade, do you know if there are any shinobi in the Kurama Clan who have awakened their Kekkei Genkai?"

Shin asked Tsunade.

By now, he had already decided to copy this Kekkei Genkai.

Although the Kurama Clan possessed such a terrifying Kekkei Genkai, their physical condition might prevent them from using it to its full potential.

The Kurama Clan's constitution was poor. They got exhausted after training for a little while, so they probably didn't have much chakra, either.

Chakra was extracted from cells. If their bodies were weak, they definitely wouldn't have much chakra; their frail bodies simply couldn't handle extracting too much.

"The Kurama Clan used to have quite a few people with Kekkei Genkai. For a time, they stood alongside our Senju Clan and the Uchiha Clan. But now they've fallen into obscurity and become a small clan. I think there's only one person who's awakened their Kekkei Genkai."

Tsunade didn't know why Shin had asked, but she told him what she knew.

"One is enough. I was afraid there wouldn't be

any."

Shin breathed a sigh of relief. He'd been worried that there might not be a single Kurama Clan member with an awakened Kekkei Genkai left. If so, he'd probably have to wait until Kurama Yakumo was born.

But that might not happen for another ten years or more. He didn't have time to wait.

By then, he might not even be interested in the Kurama Clan's Kekkei Genkai anymore.

"Shin, why are you asking about this?" Kushina asked curiously.

Mikoto and Tsunade were curious, too. They looked at Shin expectantly.

"That's something I can't tell you. It's a secret."

Shin shook his head. Some secrets couldn't be revealed just yet.

"Tsunade, do you know where the Kurama Clan member who awakened the Kekkei Genkai is now?"

"He's in Konoha's Interrogation Department. Because of his exceptional genjutsu abilities, he's the head of Konoha's Interrogation Department."

The Interrogation Department was part of Konoha's Anbu. The Uchiha Clan would have been well suited to that department, too, but the Third Hokage would never let the Uchiha Clan join the Anbu.

"I'd like to meet him. Could you take me there?" Shin asked Tsunade.

If Shin went by himself, there was no way he'd

be able to meet the head of the Interrogation Department. After all, it was part of the Anbu.

Tsunade looked at Shin, then finally nodded.

"You agreed? Aren't you going to ask me why?" Shin looked at Tsunade in surprise.

"If I ask, will you tell me?"

Shin gave an awkward smile. He really couldn't tell Tsunade.

"Let's go."

Tsunade left with Shin. Kushina and Mikoto didn't come along.

As a student of the Third Hokage, Tsunade couldn't enter the Interrogation Department whenever she wanted. But it wouldn't be a problem for her to call out its head, Kurama Fu.

"Lady Tsunade, you wanted to see me?"

Kurama Fu looked at Tsunade in surprise. He hadn't expected the princess of the Senju Clan to come looking for him, and he was a little overwhelmed.

The Kurama Clan wasn't a major clan anymore; it had fallen to the ranks of a small clan. To him, Tsunade was a person of great importance.

Tsunade looked at Shin. She wasn't the one who'd come to see Kurama Fu—it was Shin. She had no idea what he was trying to do.

"Hello, Jonin Kurama. I heard your genjutsu is very impressive. Would you be willing to teach me?" Shin said with a smile.

As he spoke, however, Shin had already used the Advanced Copy Card on Kurama Fu and copied his Five Senses Manipulation.

After copying it, Shin felt his already formidable spiritual power surge dramatically. Even his ocular jutsu had grown stronger, and his eyes felt a little tingly.

Shin blinked, and the tingling sensation finally faded.

Shin could feel that his Mangekyō Sharingan had changed, though it hadn't evolved into the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. It was simply showing signs of doing so.

This unexpected bonus filled Shin with delight.

Kurama Fu looked at Shin, his expression troubled. Shin wanted him to teach him, but Kurama Fu didn't want to.

But if he refused, would he offend Tsunade? She had brought Shin here, and she was standing right there.

Tsunade looked at Shin in surprise, too. He had the Mangekyō Sharingan—why would he need to learn genjutsu from Kurama Fu? Tsunade knew Shin must have some other motive.

"I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I don't have time to teach you," Kurama Fu said apologetically.

After weighing it over, Kurama Fu turned him down, then said to Tsunade:

"Lady Tsunade knows the Interrogation Department has a heavy workload, so I don't have time to teach anyone."

Kurama Fu explained because he was afraid of offending Tsunade. The Kurama Clan couldn't afford to offend her.

"That's a shame, but if that's the case, then never mind," Shin said.

Asking him to teach genjutsu was just an excuse. It would have seemed strange to meet Kurama Fu without any reason, so Shin had used that as a pretext.

Shin was only after Kurama Fu's Kekkei Genkai. Nothing else mattered. He didn't care whether Kurama Fu agreed or refused.

In fact, Shin was happy he'd refused. He'd never intended to have Kurama Fu teach him genjutsu in the first place.

"Tsunade, let's go," Shin said to Tsunade.

Tsunade glanced at Shin, still unable to figure out what he was up to. But since he said they were leaving, she went with him.

Watching Shin and Tsunade walk away, Kurama Fu's eyes widened. Something seemed off. Why did Lady Tsunade look like that little guy's follower?

It had to be his imagination. It definitely was.

If Tsunade knew that Kurama Fu thought she was Shin's follower, she'd probably turn around and punch him. With his frail body, he definitely wouldn't survive one of Tsunade's punches.
