Is Broly the Protagonist?

Broly had already charged out. Vegeta was certainly furious. He was the mighty prince of the Saiyans, yet he couldn't beat this guy or that guy. What was the point of him, then?

With that, he punched Broly and sent him flying.

Broly crashed through several snow-covered mountains. Vegeta flew after him, ready to vent his anger, but Broly had already recovered and rejoined the fight.

However, the gap in their power levels meant Broly couldn't fight Vegeta head-on. Wei Dong saw that Broly's true base power level was a terrifying 1.5 billion.

That was an astonishing figure. Broly was a Saiyan, and if he mastered the Saiyan transformations, he'd become truly frightening.

Broly was now at a disadvantage, forced to take blow after blow, while Vegeta continued venting his rage. Frieza, however, wasn't worried at all. In fact, he and Cooler had even reverted from their Golden Forms.

Cooler asked, "Frieza, are you sure this is a good idea?"

"Don't worry," Frieza replied. "Broly has the greatest power of all. You've seen that power yourself. If we hadn't attacked while he was exhausted, he could've pinned us to the ground and used us as floor mats."

Remembering the scene, Cooler began to sweat profusely.

Vegeta punched Broly away again, but this time the snowy mountain crumbled. "What form is this?"

Broly was in his humanoid form, but he had completed the Great Ape transformation. It gave him a tenfold boost, bringing him to 15 billion—but that still wasn't much to look at.

Vegeta stared at Broly with disdain. "I thought you'd be stronger. So this is all you've got? You're a piece of trash. You should've been sent to another planet to die. You're lucky I haven't killed you outright."

Vegeta also wanted to see what this Saiyan looked like when enraged. Frieza had talked him up so much, but Vegeta didn't believe it. Frieza might just be bluffing.

Hearing that, Broly's aura flared even higher.

Vegeta unleashed a barrage of Prince Tactics, leaving Broly no chance to get close. The enormous difference in their power left Broly beaten half to death.

Frieza called out, "Mr. Broly, let's avenge your late father! That's the only way he can rest in peace."

Broly seemed to be provoked. A burst of green energy erupted from him. This wasn't a Super Saiyan transformation, but Legendary Super Saiyan 1.

Wei Dong was puzzled. He'd actually skipped a form.

Broly's green aura kept rising, as if it were about to destroy everything around him.

Broly finished transforming, and he was still conscious. His power level was 150 billion, putting him on par with Vegeta. The strength of the Legendary Super Saiyan bloodline was truly terrifying.

When their power levels were equal or close, a Legendary Super Saiyan was bound to win.

Broly struck first. Vegeta punched him, but Broly barely felt it and simply took the blow head-on before punching Vegeta in return. It was a nasty hit—Vegeta's nose started bleeding. His fight with Frieza had already left him drained and in poor condition.

That punch seemed to break Vegeta's composure. He launched into another series of Prince Tactics. "Ha! Da! Da! Da!" But when the smoke cleared, Broly was completely unharmed. His wicked grin sent Vegeta over the edge.

Vegeta gave up. Broly punched him and sent him flying. Vegeta landed near the Z Fighters, barely conscious. Wei Dong stepped in.

That's right—Wei Dong gave Vegeta a Senzu Bean, then went back to watching. Once Vegeta recovered, he had no intention of joining the fight again.

Son Goku was excited. He began warming up, and Broly flashed a wicked grin before charging at him. Was Son Goku seriously going to use Super Saiyan God?

Thunder Shock Surprise! Son Goku actually used Master Roshi's technique.

But Broly broke free at once and punched Son Goku flying.

Broly chased after him and landed another flurry of punches. Son Goku transformed into Super Saiyan God Blue and fought Broly to a standstill.

Son Goku smiled. "No matter how much I train, it seems I still can't catch up to you. Your transformation doesn't give you that much of a boost, but mine is different. That's why our base power levels are so far apart."

Hearing Son Goku speak, Broly recognized his voice.

Then Broly lost control, muttering over and over, "Kakarot... Kakarot... Kakarot..."

Broly had been too grief-stricken earlier to recognize that Son Goku was Kakarot.

Seeing Broly lose control, Frieza taunted, "Son Goku, looks like you're finished. Once Broly loses control, his power becomes greater than you can imagine."

Wei Dong realized Broly's power level had already reached 250 billion. "Hey, Whis, could you put up an Energy Shield?" When Wei Dong turned to look for him, Whis was nowhere to be seen. "Damn, he's gone!"

With Broly out of control, Son Goku stood no chance. Vegeta clenched his fists and rushed in to help Son Goku fight him.

Unfortunately, Broly fought them both at once and kept them completely pinned down.

Frieza laughed delightedly.

Son Goku and Vegeta had been beaten until their shirts were gone. But their pants, as always, remained intact. Bare-chested, both men had blood spilling from the corners of their mouths.

Broly seemed to be enjoying himself.

Seeing Son Goku and Vegeta get pummeled, Trunks could no longer sit still. Gohan was itching to join in, too, while Piccolo and Biro discussed something.

Vegeta and Son Goku clashed with Broly in a beam struggle. The two of them were completely overpowered, and Broly's beam pushed theirs back.

Son Gohan and Trunks joined the beam struggle, but they were still being overwhelmed. Piccolo and Biro wasted no time either. They activated Kaio-ken and joined in, bringing the beams to a standstill in the middle. Frieza fired Death Beams—not to kill anyone, but simply to interfere.

Wei Dong intercepted every one of them, and Frieza stopped firing.

The energy beams hung in the middle, ready to explode at any moment. Wei Dong transformed into Super Saiyan 4 and raised an Energy Shield, then blew up the beam. The shield kept the explosion from affecting anything else.

Everyone turned their attention to Wei Dong. After all, the power he was giving off was terrifying.

But Wei Dong had no intention of fighting. He simply used Instant Transmission to whisk away all the Z Fighters.

That left Frieza, Cooler, Broly, and Frieza's army staring in confusion.

Then Wei Dong used Instant Transmission to return, blew up the spaceship, and teleported away again.
