Background / History

Di Tian survived the era of the Divine Dragon Realm and formerly served as a Dragon God Guard. Having descended from the God Realm, he recognizes the implications of divine inheritance and God Trials, although Fang Le’s unusually simple trials challenge his expectations 10 11 22.

He lives in the Land of Great Evil within Star Dou Forest and serves the injured Silver Dragon King. The fierce beasts spent prolonged periods cultivating and absorbing the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, leaving Di Tian with limited knowledge of developments outside the forest 28 40.

Di Tian raised the Three-Eyed Golden Lion himself and was the first person she saw upon opening her eyes. His attachment to her is repeatedly portrayed as that of a protective father 8 10.

According to Fang Le’s introduction, Di Tian is said to descend from the union of the Dark Dragon King and Light Dragon King, two of the Dragon Clan’s Nine Dragon Kings 40.

Appearance

  • Human form: A middle-aged man wearing a black robe patterned with gold 8.
  • Dragon horns: Retained on his head in human form 8.
  • Expression and bearing: Cold, dignified, and regal, with an intimidating aura likened to a monarch looking down on other beings 8.
  • Combat transformation: His broad hand becomes a dragon claw covered in pitch-black scales; activating Dragon God Claw coats it in nine-colored radiance 28.

Personality

Di Tian is proud, forceful, and initially contemptuous of humans. He views Fang Le’s ability to gain cultivation by killing living creatures as a grave threat to Star Dou Forest and intends to eliminate him before he grows stronger. His opposition softens only after the Auspicious Beast insists that Fang Le represents the soul beasts’ chance of survival 8 10.

His pride is subordinate to the future of his race. Once convinced of Fang Le’s potential, he willingly follows the child’s requests and offers personal protection rather than preserving the distance expected of a powerful elder. He treats this commitment as an investment in a future god who might stand with the soul beasts 11 17 22 28.

Di Tian’s protectiveness also has limits defined by allegiance. He tolerates humans obtaining soul rings when cooperation benefits Fang Le, despite regarding the hunted beasts as his subjects. He eats soul beasts himself, distinguishing natural predation from human hunting—a double standard explicitly noted in the narration 17. When saving Mother Jiang might endanger the Silver Dragon King, he vehemently objects 41.

Abilities & Skills

Dragon God Claw

A divine skill personally bestowed by the Dragon God, manifested through a black-scaled claw enveloped in nine-colored light 28.

  • Overwhelms Xuan Zi and allows Di Tian to pin him down and repeatedly strike him 28.
  • Exerts heightened suppression against Xuan Zi’s Godly Taotie Bull because of its dragon-lineage bloodline 28.
  • Together with his complementary yin-yang twin Soul Cores, is described by Fang Le as enabling him to contend with a first-rank main god 40.

Cultivation and Combat Prowess

Di Tian’s strength places him above the human powerhouses encountered by Fang Le’s group 26 27.

  • Moves too quickly for the Shrek students to follow when striking Xu Fangmiao 27.
  • Detects Xuan Zi’s concealed presence and forces him to reveal himself 27.
  • Shatters Mi Long’s bones and meridians with a dragon-claw strike before the attacker can reach Fang Le 25.
  • Uses oppressive power to restrain the trial Zombie and immobilize the nearby Shrek students 15 28.
  • According to Shrek’s records, surviving challengers—including several Limit Douluos—warned that he could not be defeated without divine power 27.

Cultivation Insight and Tactical Guidance

Di Tian can identify weaknesses that Fang Le’s overwhelming statistics initially conceal 16 22 36 37.

  • Recognizes Fang Le’s mental breakthrough and its importance for avoiding future cultivation bottlenecks 22.
  • Explains that Fang Le’s block-based tactics remain vulnerable to flight, targeting abilities, and the major strength increase provided by a Soul Sage’s Martial Soul Avatar 16.
  • Warns that coordinated opponents can wear Fang Le down despite domain suppression 36.
  • Identifies attacks launched from outside the domain’s range as a direct countermeasure 36.
  • Advises improving combat fundamentals, survival capabilities, domain range, and control over both domains 36 37.

Injury Assessment and Stabilization

Di Tian stabilizes Mother Jiang after Mi Long’s attack but cannot cure her condition 25.

  • Determines that her origin injury exceeds Bi Ji’s healing capabilities 40.
  • Explains that reversing the injury would require divine power 41.
  • Warns that the Silver Dragon King needs her divine power to suppress the damage from Asura Judgment, and that using it could attract the God Realm’s attention 41.

Demonstrated Limits

Encounter Result
Fang Le’s Destroyer attack A level-14 Fang Le bypasses Di Tian’s defenses, inflicts fixed damage, and knocks him back less than half a step 12.
Fang Le’s Wooden Sword The crafted weapon makes Di Tian stagger despite its toy-like appearance 17.
Fang Le’s MC Domain Reduces his displayed health capacity from 899,998 to 728,998. Di Tian cannot break the suppression through surging soul power 36.
Shrek’s divine backing Means left behind by the Sea God restrain Di Tian from directly settling the dispute over Mu En’s title 32.
A war of mutual destruction Di Tian rejects an all-out beast tide as a survival strategy: divine intervention could kill him and leave the remaining soul beasts defenseless 42.

Relationships

  • Fang Le — Initially an intended assassination target, later his protected charge and the soul beasts’ principal hope. Di Tian offers the Star Dou Forest’s backing, becomes his guardian, and helps him evaluate his abilities 8 11 17 36 37.
  • Di Lingrui / Rui’er — The Three-Eyed Golden Lion he raised; their bond is paternal. He proposes the name “Di Jin’er,” but Fang Le instead names her Di Lingrui, retaining Di Tian’s surname 8 10 23.
  • Silver Dragon King — His lord and the central figure he protects. He initially refuses to expose her to danger for Mother Jiang, then agrees to seek her response to Fang Le’s proposal 41 42.
  • Dragon God — Former sovereign and source of Dragon God Claw. Di Tian reveres him and considers Mu En’s “Dragon God Douluo” title an unacceptable appropriation 10 28 32.
  • Scarlet King — Fellow fierce beast and companion during the encounter with Fang Le. Scarlet King helps defuse their initial confrontation and obtains the rabbit required for Fang Le’s trial at Di Tian’s order 8 10 11.
  • Jiang Nannan and Mother Jiang — Human companions assisted through his alliance with Fang Le. He protects the group and stabilizes Mother Jiang, but refuses to place their needs above the Silver Dragon King’s safety 25 40 41.
  • Xuan Zi — A hostile Shrek elder whom Di Tian repeatedly subdues. Di Tian also warns him against attempting to recruit Fang Le 27 28 37 38.
  • Mu En — The Shrek powerhouse whose “Dragon God Douluo” title enrages Di Tian. He demands a public clarification within three days and threatens to lead a beast horde to Shrek if it is not made 28 32 38.

Story Role / Major Arcs

From Threat to Guardian

Di Tian observes Fang Le for days before confronting him during his first soul-ring absorption. The Auspicious Beast’s warning prevents him from killing the boy: fate indicates that Fang Le’s death would bring destruction to Star Dou Forest and its inhabitants 8.

The alliance becomes practical when Fang Le reveals his God Trial. Di Tian arranges assistance, tests the boy’s defense-ignoring attacks, and witnesses his inexplicable crafting ability. He subsequently offers to accompany Fang Le into the human world as his guardian 11 12 17.

Commitment to the Soul Beasts’ Future

Fang Le’s decision to preserve his humanity convinces Di Tian that the boy possesses both extraordinary talent and a character worth supporting. Recognizing his attachment to home and his lack of prejudice against soul beasts, Di Tian decides to go “all in” on helping him become a god 21 22.

Jiang Residence and Shrek Confrontation

Di Tian stops Mi Long’s assault and stabilizes the injured Mother Jiang. When Shrek’s party accuses Fang Le of being an Evil Soul Master, he protects the boy and overpowers Xuan Zi 25 26 27 28.

After the fighting, he helps test Fang Le’s domains. His inability to overcome their suppression strengthens his confidence in Fang Le’s future, but he still delivers a blunt assessment of the boy’s combat weaknesses 36 37.

Negotiations over Mother Jiang’s Soul

Fang Le proposes involving the Silver Dragon King and offers secret knowledge concerning God Kings, the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings, and the future of soul beasts as compensation 41.

Despite doubting that a six-year-old could possess such information, Di Tian agrees to attempt communication with his lord. He acknowledges that shrinking forests, dwindling dragon numbers, and the threat of divine intervention leave the soul beasts without a safe alternative. He does not guarantee that the Silver Dragon King will act 42.

“You... I can try to communicate with her. As for whether she will act, I cannot be certain.” 42

Trivia
