Background & History
A god was born in the village: Great God King Tang, later known as the Sea God, departed from it before ascending ten thousand years earlier. Its association with him remains the village's primary source of prestige and occasional outside assistance. 1
The village is a poor farming settlement. Most residents could not reasonably afford the reported ten-Gold-Soul-Coin cost of a martial soul awakening, so the intermittent arrival of Soul Masters to conduct awakenings is especially important to local children. 1
Old Jack, the village chief, found Fang Le as an infant in the wilderness and raised him as his grandson. He hoped Fang Le's awakening would restore the village's standing. 1
Landmarks
- Central square — Site of the children's martial soul awakening ceremony. 1
- Sea God Tang statue — Replaced the village's former stone tablet, which had once borne a Soul Saint's palm print and was later discarded. The statue serves as the village's central symbol of pride. 1
- Hillside — Fang Le regularly trained here before his awakening, running the mountain paths to strengthen his body. 1
Residents & Connections
- Old Jack — Village chief and Fang Le's adoptive grandfather; he raised Fang Le and remained in the village after Fang Le left to pursue cultivation. 1 2
- Fang Le (Xiao Le) — Adopted village child whose martial soul awakening revealed twin martial souls: the Warden and a white light eye. 2
- Su Haitao — A Soul Master of the Su family who conducted the village's awakening ceremony; he dismissed Fang Le after testing his innate soul power at only half a level. 2
- Uncle Erniu — Accompanied Fang Le by ox cart when he departed the village toward Nuoding City. 2 3
Story Role
God Soul Village is Fang Le's starting home following his transmigration to the Douluo Continent. It establishes both his connection to Old Jack and the legacy of Tang San that shapes the village's identity. 1
At the village awakening ceremony, Fang Le manifests the external Beast Martial Soul Warden and a white light eye Body Martial Soul. Although Su Haitao regards his half-level innate soul power as worthless, Old Jack encourages him and offers his savings for Fang Le to attend a Soul Master Academy. 2
One month later, Fang Le leaves the village with Uncle Erniu, promising Old Jack that he will return after making a name for himself. Old Jack stays behind to guard the home awaiting his grandson's return. 2
