Background

Shrek is a prestigious Soul Master academy whose name carries substantial influence among its students and affiliated factions. Its members invoke the academy's “glory” as a source of confidence and authority, while its reputation is closely tied to the Sea God and its tradition of producing exceptional Soul Masters 26 27 30.

The academy is associated with the Sea God’s protection and is said to have produced seven gods. Its Sea God’s Light is regarded by its members as a foundation of Shrek’s standing on the continent 32.

At least some of Shrek’s senior members recognize Di Tian as an overwhelming threat. Xuan Zi, despite his usual arrogance, apologizes to Di Tian after realizing that the Beast God cannot be confronted by ordinary mortal power 27.

• Xuan Zi — Level 98 Taotie Douluo; Sea God Pavilion elder and a major pillar of Shrek, second only to Mu En 27.
• Zhang Lexuan — Outer Court student and level 49 Tool Soul Ancestor; leads the Shrek student group that confronts Fang Le 30.

Relationships

• Di Tian — Shrek’s group clashes with the Beast God after accusing Fang Le and Di Tian of being Evil Soul Masters. Di Tian repeatedly warns Xuan Zi against attempting to claim Fang Le for Shrek 26 27 37.
• Fang Le — Shrek’s students misidentify him as an Evil Soul Master, demand Rui’er’s handover, and ultimately fight him. Xuan Zi later wishes to recruit him because of his twin Martial Souls, twin domains, and unusual combat power 26 29 37.
• Xuanming Sect — Allied faction; Xu Fangmiao treats Mi Long’s death as an offense against both the Xu family and Shrek 26.
• Rui’er / Three-Eyed Golden Lion — Shrek’s approach alarms Fang Le and the soul beasts due to Shrek’s perceived history with soul beasts; the students initially mistake Rui’er for a 100,000-year Soul Beast because she can speak and possesses exceptional combat potential 29 30.

Story Role

Confrontation at the Jiang Residence

A group of Shrek students arrives at the Jiang residence after Mi Hu and Mi Long are killed. Witnessing Old Green acting on Fang Le’s orders, they accuse Fang Le and Di Tian of being Evil Soul Masters rather than accepting Fang Le’s explanation of a personal grudge 26.

The group summons Xuan Zi for support. Upon arriving, Xuan Zi recognizes Di Tian’s identity and immediately apologizes on behalf of the students, aware that the Beast God’s power is beyond his ability to challenge 27.

Attempt to Seize Rui’er

The Shrek group considers taking Fang Le or Rui’er hostage to restrain Di Tian. Fang Le interprets this as an attempt to repeat Shrek’s past conduct toward soul beasts and challenges the students himself, refusing Rui’er’s offer to intervene 28 29 30.

Zhang Lexuan accepts the challenge, leading a formation of Shrek students against Fang Le. Their team includes three Soul Ancestors and four Soul Elders, with Zhang Lexuan herself at level 49 29 30 31.

Battle Against Fang Le

Fang Le quickly sends Xu Fangmiao flying with a Wooden Sword, then activates his innate MC Domain against the remaining students. The domain manifests health bars above its targets and cannot be dispelled by their Soul Skills 32 33.

Although Zhao Tianba breaks through to level 40 and briefly forces Fang Le back, the Shrek group is ultimately defeated and knocked unconscious. Fang Le ends the confrontation without killing them 34 36.

Xuan Zi’s Recruitment Attempt

After the battle, Xuan Zi privately considers recruiting Fang Le into Shrek, viewing his talent, twin Martial Souls, domains, and Star Dou Forest backing as extraordinarily valuable. Di Tian detects this intention, assaults Xuan Zi, and threatens Shrek with a beast tide should it covet Fang Le again 37.
