Neji was born into the Hyuga Clan's Branch Family and bore the Caged Bird Seal, leaving his life subject to the Main Branch's control. His resentment was rooted in his father dying in place of Hyuga Hiashi, an outcome Neji regarded as inseparable from the clan's oppressive hierarchy. 95 212
