Background / History

Thorin is the son of Thráin and grandson of Thrór, the former King Under the Mountain. He belongs to the Longbeards, described as the most powerful and orthodox of the seven Dwarf clans and the descendants of Durin's Folk. Erebor fell to Smaug more than sixty years before the expedition, forcing its surviving Dwarves into exile. 6

After Thrór was killed by Azog during the Battle of Moria/Azanulbizar, Thorin lost his shield in battle and fought with an oak branch.
