Minato was naturally familiar with Devil Fruits. Kizaru was a Logia Devil Fruit user with the Glint-Glint Fruit.

His battle with Kizaru had been his first fight after being revived, and the first defeat of his life.

Apart from managing to wound Kizaru at the start by taking advantage of his carelessness, Minato hadn't gained much from the fight. Kizaru had only been testing him, while Minato had already been giving it his all.

Once Kizaru went all out, Minato could barely even escape. Fortunately, he had prepared Flying Thunder God Formulas and a genjutsu in advance, which allowed him to get away.

Afterward, Minato had been curious and looked up the price of a Logia Devil Fruit.

B-rank, Excellent quality was already the second-best tier of reward. And judging by the description, if his guess was right, this Fruit also had spatial properties!

Minato immediately chose to claim his reward. A Fruit with mysterious spiral patterns on its surface appeared in his palm.

He swallowed it in one bite and nearly threw up from how awful it tasted. No wonder little Luffy had reacted so strongly. Still, Minato forced himself to finish it.

"Phew. Finally done."

Minato immediately opened his personal storage space, took out a bottle of water, and gulped it down.💠😾

As he drank, something felt off. Where had the water gone?

A small square opening had appeared in the middle of the bottle in his hand, with a door standing open on it. The tiny door was made from the bottle itself. All the water inside had gone into the space beyond it!

Half a day later, on top of one of the skyscrapers in the enormous training ground created by Main God Space.

A door opened in the air on the rooftop.

A Kunai shot out at incredible speed, and almost at the same moment, Minato Namikaze appeared and caught it in his hand.

In just half a day, Minato had already developed the Door-Door Fruit to the point where he could open doors in nonphysical objects.

For some reason, this Fruit was an incredibly good fit for Minato Namikaze.

Originally, the Flying Thunder God Technique had only let him teleport to places where he had already marked a formula, or teleport by following a formula marked on a moving Kunai with the second-stage Flying Thunder God. This still placed a lot of restrictions on him in battle.

Now, combined with the Door-Door Fruit's ability to open doors anywhere, he could exploit the loophole of opening a door in the air. Wherever he opened a door, a Kunai bearing a Flying Thunder God Formula could appear. Minato could then appear there as well. It was practically impossible to counter!

The Door-Door Fruit made up for the Flying Thunder God's need for a fixed Flying Thunder God Formula, while the Flying Thunder God made up for the brief pause required to enter and exit a door after the Door-Door Fruit opened one.

The two abilities working together meant Minato could reach anywhere within his line of sight in an instant!

The Door-Door Fruit had a range of several dozen kilometers around him, roughly the limit of what he could see with the naked eye.

That was much smaller than the area covered by Minato's Flying Thunder God, which could span an entire country. (That was a rough estimate based on sensing Flying Thunder God Marks, not proof that Minato's spiritual power could cover an entire country.)

The range here referred to the farthest distance at which Minato could sense a Flying Thunder God Mark, not the maximum distance a Flying Thunder God Formula could automatically reach.

In theory, Flying Thunder God had no distance limit within the same space. As long as you had enough Chakra and your body could withstand it, you could cross an entire planet. Minato couldn't do that yet.

Still, the Door-Door Fruit greatly improved his mobility over short and medium distances.

After finishing his tests, Minato had one more reward: the Main God's Invitation, a rare item that could invite beings up to the fifth stage into Main God Space and grant them the privileges of an ordinary Reincarnator.

It wasn't that Minato was being selfish by keeping it from Konoha, or that he didn't want to invite Kushina.

One reason was that Kushina would most likely be chosen as a Reincarnator anyway. Another was that, as a rare item, the Main God's Invitation would be most valuable if used to recruit the strongest possible fighters.

Inviting someone weak would be a bit of a waste, so Minato decided to hold on to it for now.

As for why he thought Kushina would most likely be chosen as a Reincarnator, when he had brought her back to Konoha to meet Naruto, he had triggered a hidden quest:

When Minato saw the quest, his heart was filled with sorrow.

Based on what he and Orochimaru had concluded, Main God's quests usually aimed to change events that were highly likely to happen—in other words, to interfere with fate.

If that assumption was correct, then the few dozen words in the quest description might well represent Naruto's lonely childhood in another river of fate!

The thought that this guess might be true filled him with guilt and remorse.

On the other hand, the designation "Child of Destiny" also showed that Naruto was special, as Minato and Orochimaru had deduced.

There shouldn't be many people like Naruto, special Children of Destiny, in any one world, and they would certainly play an unusual role in the river of fate. People like them, or those connected to them, were more likely to be chosen as Reincarnators.

That was why Minato guessed that Kushina might well become a Reincarnator, and why it was so important to strengthen her.
