Aizen is usually presented as a calm, scholarly man whose composed manner conceals his overwhelming spiritual pressure. During his time as the Sage Master, he wears a black-based kimono, white cape, and black-rimmed glasses; later, his eyes are no longer hidden behind lenses and are described as cold and unfathomably deep. 125 232

He is deeply opposed to stagnation. In Douluo Continent, this manifests as his effort to create cultivation paths independent of birth, innate spirit power, and Spirit Rings. As the 5th Division Captain, Aizen encounters Orochimaru’s group inside Central 46’s Great Spirit Library Corridor. He effortlessly defeats Pakura and turns Orochimaru’s attack back on him through illusion, becoming interested in the group’s foreign powers and origins. 47

After trapping the intruders in an extradimensional space, Aizen expands his secret research into Reincarnators. He captures Black Zetsu, studies his unusual soul and bloodline traits, and transforms him into an evolving Hollow-based experimental subject. 48 76 79

Douluo Continent and the Sage Master

Aizen awakens Kyōka Suigetsu as a Tool Spirit, joins Spirit Hall, and rejects the standard Spirit Ring path after concluding that foreign energy would contaminate his soul. 119 120 122

He instead develops the Spirit Soul Meditation Method, trains seven children into powerful guards, and publicly challenges the belief that only those with innate spirit power can cultivate. After becoming a Reincarnator, Aizen establishes himself in Hueco Mundo and creates the Soul Reaper Space. At the Royal Palace, Aizen defeats and erases Ichibē Hyōsube, meets the sealed Soul King, and convinces him to break free from the Five Great Noble Families’ seal. 318
