Wave after wave of terrifying energy made it seem as though bombs with enormous payloads were exploding all around them. One energy wave after another surged through the air.

"What incredible power! At this rate, the Earth will be destroyed!"

The surging shock waves made everyone cry out in alarm. Son Goku and Beerus were already holding back; otherwise, the Earth would have been destroyed long ago.

"Lord Beerus, why don't we fight in the sky?"

Son Goku could tell that he and Beerus had caused tremendous damage to the Earth after only a brief exchange.

"Whatever."

Beerus replied indifferently.

"Damn it, Kakarot really did it!"

Earlier, Son Goku had invited Vegeta to join him, hoping that Vegeta could serve as the focus and help him transform into a Super Saiyan God.

But when Vegeta heard that they were still one Saiyan short, he refused without a second thought. What he hadn't expected was that even with two Saiyans missing—

Son Goku still often came by and took Trunks away with him. In the end, Vegeta's worry had come true: Son Goku had actually transformed into a Super Saiyan God despite being two Saiyans short.

Vegeta also understood something now: a Super Saiyan God could be attained through training with outside help.

At the same time, Vegeta noticed another problem: when Son Goku transformed into a Super Saiyan God, he was even stronger than Lei Chen.

However, Lei Chen had transformed into a Super Saiyan God more than a month ago. Vegeta had no idea how much he had improved since then.

As Vegeta pondered this, he suddenly heard Piccolo say, "It looks like Son Goku is about to lose."

"What?"

Vegeta's expression changed in alarm. He turned to look up at the sky and saw that Son Goku was already at a disadvantage.

As Beerus increased the pressure, Son Goku's power couldn't match his. After transforming into a Super Saiyan God, Son Goku's power had increased twentyfold. His Super Saiyan 3 power was two trillion, so as a Super Saiyan God, it was forty trillion.

But Beerus was now using eighty percent of his divine power. He easily defeated Son Goku. Compared with the Son Goku in the original story, who had forced Beerus to use seventy percent of his power, this Son Goku was much stronger.

Finally, under Beerus's relentless assault, with his speed and strength surging, Son Goku reverted to his black-haired base form and fell from the sky, his spirit flagging.

"Kakarot lost," Vegeta cried, his expression complicated.

Even Son Goku, after becoming a Super Saiyan God, couldn't defeat him. Who could stop this volatile God of Destruction?

Could it be that only Lei Chen could? But who knew where that guy had gone?

"How boring. It seems that the Saiyan named Lei Chen is the true foe from my dream."

Beerus looked disappointed. He had thought that the Saiyan who could transform into a Super Saiyan God would give him some fun, but he hadn't expected things to turn out this way.

If that guy didn't show up...

Then there was no reason for this planet to keep existing.

Destruction!

Purple Destruction Divine Power gathered at Beerus's fingertip, then formed into a sphere and fell toward the Earth below him.

Seeing Beerus suddenly move to destroy the Earth, everyone looked alarmed. Even Whis looked surprised. He hadn't had his fill of the food on Earth yet. He raised the Angel Staff, about to stop Beerus.

But before the purple-black Destruction Divine Power could reach the Earth, a voice suddenly rang out of nowhere.

"Beerus, I heard you were looking for me."

Then another golden energy blast appeared in the distance and slammed into the energy sphere Beerus had unleashed.

The two terrifying forces canceled each other out and quickly vanished.

"What?"

Beerus was startled to see someone effortlessly block his Destruction Energy. He immediately looked down at Son Goku, but Son Goku was still lying on the ground.

Just then, a voice suddenly sounded in Beerus's ear.

Beerus turned to look. Standing before him was a man about one meter eighty-five tall, with black hair in a style similar to Broly's base form and a tail swaying behind him.

A familiar feeling washed over Beerus. The figure from his dream overlapped with the man before him.

"It's you! You really are the person I saw in my dream!"

Beerus spoke with a hint of excitement.

Lei Chen was stunned.

What's going on? Have I actually become Beerus's destined foe from his dream?

That whole thing about me being the god of the Saiyans was just something I made up.

Did Kakarot tell Beerus something just now?

Lei Chen was starting to panic. He was beginning to regret talking nonsense in front of Son Goku.

Is Beerus going to fight me at full strength right from the start?

Am I going to get killed in one hit?

Lei Chen had dared to challenge Beerus not because he trusted his own strength, but because he had trained his mastery of the spatial laws to their limits.

If he wanted to, Lei Chen could instantly teleport anywhere in the universe with just a thought.

In other words, unless Grand Zeno got involved, no one could kill Lei Chen.

Lei Chen was just about to transform directly into a Super Saiyan God Blue.

Just then, a red glow flashed between the two of them.

"Lord Beerus! Our fight isn't over yet!"

Son Goku, who had already returned to his base form, had appeared before Beerus once more. His hair was burning red again.

"You? You still have the strength to fight?"

Beerus looked at Son Goku in surprise and realized that his power had increased once again. Though it still fell short of Beerus's eighty percent, it wasn't far off. Defeating him would no longer be as easy as before—unless Beerus used ninety percent of his power.

"Haha, Lei Chen, you're back! Could you leave Lord Beerus to me? I haven't had enough of fighting him yet."

Son Goku greeted Lei Chen.

"Sure!"

Lei Chen agreed without a second thought. If he could help it, he didn't want to fight Beerus—at least, not yet. He'd only consider it once he could fuse Super Blue with Super Saiyan 4.

Son Goku had the protagonist's plot armor. Lei Chen didn't. If he died, he'd stay dead. Son Goku was different; at the very least, the cosmic rules of this world wouldn't let the universe's chosen one die so easily.
