Background / History

Orochimaru spent nearly a year outside Konoha gathering intelligence while secretly laying the foundations for a future Sound Village in the Land of Rice Fields. During this period, his principal interests in Konoha were ninjutsu and the Uchiha clan’s Sharingan. 71

He maintained a long-standing cooperative relationship with Danzō. Orochimaru assisted with Danzō’s transplanted Sharingan and First Hokage cells; in return, he gained access to Konoha’s secret scrolls and forbidden techniques.
