Turles stepped out of his spaceship, his eyes immediately locking onto the figure hovering in front of the Tree of Might in the distance.
The number displayed on his scouter made him frown.
He pushed off the ground with a burst of force, shattering the earth beneath his feet, and shot forward like a cannonball, reaching the base of the Tree of Might in just a few breaths.
To his left was his subordinate Reiz, who had managed to hold the opponent off.
To his right was the one rumored to be the prince of this planet, a guy with decent combat power.
Turles shifted his gaze to Raditz in the air, watching as the energy gathering in the man's palm slowly dissipated.
He didn't rush to attack, instead moving calmly toward one of the fruits.
"It's rare to see someone with such high combat power in this universe."
Turles spoke as he reached out to pluck the fruit.
"What's your name?"
Raditz didn't answer; he only stared at the face before him—a face identical to Sun Wukong's—feeling somewhat dazed.
Alike.
Far too alike.
If Sun Wukong was an innocent boy who had grown up in the sunlight, then the Turles before him was exactly what a Saiyan Kakarot would look like had he grown up without losing his memory in childhood.
"Your strength is not bad at all." Turles held the fruit up before his eyes. "How about joining us?"
"Come with us, and we can roam the universe as we please, destroying the planets we don't like, living the good life, and doing whatever we want."
"There is no life freer than this. What do you say? Come with me!"
Raditz looked at that familiar face, the sense of dissonance growing stronger.
"Freedom? How can there be freedom with that kind of combat power?"
"Hahahaha!"
Turles laughed loudly. "It seems you still don't understand the function of the Tree of Might's fruit. Eat this, and you can become even stronger."
With that, he bit into the fruit in his hand. As the juices entered his body, his muscles suddenly bulged.
His combat power instantly surged from 16,000 to 30,000!
"How about it? Join us, and you can enjoy these fruits too. You won't have to struggle on the edge of life and death to get stronger," Turles coaxed.
"No thanks. I have no interest in your fruit, and no interest in you," Raditz said.
Turles's smile didn't fade, but his eyes turned cold. "A pity."
"Then you can die here."
Before the words had even faded, Turles's figure vanished from where he stood.
He might not have been able to defeat this guy before, but after eating the fruit, he was confident he could crush him with ease!
There was a twofold difference in combat power between 15,000 and 30,000!
He threw a punch straight at Raditz's abdomen; the force of the blow arrived, but the figure suddenly disappeared.
Turles's fist slammed into the rock on the ground, sending shattered stones flying.
"Not bad speed."
Turles sneered. "Try this!"
"Hah!!"
The next moment, he flew rapidly into the high air, gathered a massive amount of energy in both hands, and bombarded Raditz with a barrage of energy spheres.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The saturation attack plunged the area where Raditz stood into a frenzy of explosions.
Shockwaves billowed outward. Daizi stood in the distance, watching in stunned silence; would he have a chance to dodge such an attack? He would likely be blown to smithereens.
Turles ceased his movements. There were no more combat power signals on his scouter; he figured that the barrage had successfully wiped the opponent out.
"Tch, low-class warriors are always so useless."
"I am different. I am a man who has consumed countless fruits of the Tree of Might."
"Hahahaha!"
Turles had already begun to imagine the entire universe bowing to him thanks to the Tree of Might.
"Hey! Are you done laughing?"
An abrupt voice came from behind Turles.
Turles whirled around, putting distance between them.
"You're still alive?!"
"Isn't that obvious?"
Turles stared in confusion at his scouter, which showed a combat power reading of only five.
Broken?
"You're lucky to have escaped with your life," Turles sneered. "But with a power level like yours, you won't be able to defeat the me of today."
"If you're willing to kneel and admit your mistake right now, I might spare you and let you join us."
Raditz: "..." You really are persistent.
"Open your eyes and look! Look at my power level."
With that, Raditz gathered his energy, and a violent gale began to dance around him.
"Haaa!!!"
The value on Turles's scouter, which had originally displayed five, surged instantly!
"10,000..."
"20,000..."
"30,000..."
"40,000..."
"Bang!"
A loud explosion erupted.
Turles's expression grew even more confused, revealing a hint of solemnity.
The scouter wasn't broken?
If it wasn't broken, didn't that mean the opponent's current power level was already over 40,000, surpassing his own?
Impossible!
"It seems the scouter really is broken."
"You damn wretch, you won't have a chance to escape this time."
Turles pressed his palms together and slowly pulled them apart, a golden sphere of energy coalescing between them.
He fired it straight toward Raditz.
Raditz moved forward as well, flying rapidly to meet the energy ball head-on.
As he drew near, he opened his left hand and swiped forward, batting the incoming energy ball away.
Without slowing down in the slightest, he charged straight at Turles.
Turles froze.
"What..."
Before he could finish his sentence, a fist, charged with long-accumulated power, was already imprinted on his chest.
It slammed into him with solid force.
An overwhelming power surged through him, causing Turles's body to arch like a shrimp, his eyes bulging and his mouth hanging wide open.
"Pfft!"
He flew backward, slamming into the trunk of the Tree of Might and shaking the entire tree.
Sliding down from the trunk and landing on one knee, Turles clutched his chest, his eyes filled with disbelief.
This punch had injured him, but it had also made him realize one thing with absolute clarity.
The gap.
The data on the scouter was real?!
The next moment, his expression shifted violently.
He dodged quickly.
Energy blasts followed one after another, bombarding the area where he had just been standing.
"Ugh, ah!!"
Turles screamed as he was blown away, hanging from a branch of the Tree of Might.
Raditz hovered in mid-air, drawing back his hands.
The Prince's tactics, huh? I can do that too.
"Damn it..." Turles gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his forehead.
He reached out once more, plucked a fruit from the branch beside him, and swallowed it in a few bites.
Energy flooded into his body again.
His strength was recovering, becoming even greater than before.
"It's not enough."
Turles plucked another fruit and began to devour it.
"Hoo—"
Only after finishing the third one did he float toward Raditz with calm composure.
"You've truly angered me this time!"
Raditz looked at him, making no move, and merely remarked, "Legend has it that the fruit of the Tree of Might is a tribute for the gods."
"As a mere mortal, can your body handle eating so many in such a short time?"
"Gods? They are nothing but mortals with powerful..."
Before he could finish, Turles felt his stomach churn violently. A scorching current of energy surged from his gut, and his body began to tremble uncontrollably.
"Urghhh!!"
Turles shrieked again, crashing to the ground as his combat power began to plummet, only stabilizing once it dropped to just over twenty thousand.
Raditz: "..."
Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy.
He looked down at Turles, who was still struggling to crawl back up, and slowly gathered blue energy in his right hand.
This time, Turles would not be able to dodge.
