Background

Old Supreme Kai was sealed inside the Z Sword until Sun Wukong blasted the sword’s cliff with a Kamehameha. He emerged injured and angry at Wukong’s method, but acknowledged that the blast had freed him 17.

Wukong then told him privately that he had come from roughly thirty years in the future and described the Evil Dragon. Old Supreme Kai questioned him about that timeline and his Super Saiyan 4 transformation. Rather than repeat the painful tail-pulling method Wukong remembered from the future, he suggested asking the Guardian—the person who had removed Wukong’s tail—for help 18 19.

The absence of Beerus and other divine figures from Wukong’s account troubled Old Supreme Kai. He warned Wukong about Beerus, then contacted Whis through a crystal ball to discuss the unusual timeline. Whis confirmed Old Supreme Kai’s suspicion that the Evil Dragon would not arise in their timeline and cautioned him to keep Wukong’s rebirth secret 19 20.

Personality

Old Supreme Kai is irritable and blunt, particularly with the current Supreme Kai and Kibito, whom he scolds for not knowing about Beerus or recognizing Frieza’s increased strength 23 41. He nevertheless takes Wukong’s account seriously, investigates it with Whis, and entrusts Wukong with the prospect of defeating Majin Buu 18 20 23. Wukong later catches him reading a comic book in the Sacred World of the Kai 38.
