Background / History

Early life and first death

Xiao Hua lived among the ape-men as Shu Zi's mate and the mother of their first child. During the base's announced population reduction, she panicked and sought comfort from Shu Zi; the family later joined the escape from the base. 29 30

After the Ancestral Deities withdrew from direct intervention, Hei Zi ambushed Shu Zi's family with a stolen gun. Xiao Hua was shot through the chest while tending to the children. As she died, she reached for her child; Shu Zi placed the child in her arms, allowing her to die peacefully in her family's embrace. 31

Huang Si preserved some of her cells, recorded her bodily data in the Creation Book, and detected her soul at the moment of death. Her death was the first murder case in the tribe's history. 31 32

Soul assimilation and resurrection

Huang Si saved Xiao Hua's soul from dissipation by assimilating it and replenishing it with diluted Mental Force. Her soul became a nearly physical golden cross, gained clear consciousness, and could potentially persist indefinitely unless harmed by another powerful soul. 33

He recreated and repaired her body, allowing her soul to merge with it; however, her instinctive obedience led Huang Si to classify her as a servant. After objections from his AI assistants, he extracted her soul again and evaporated the restored body. 33

Xiao Hua could not enter the Data Space through forced digitization and could not pass through the Ring in her normal soul state. Huang Si therefore left her soul on the Ring platform, where she remained motionless for nearly 200 days according to his orders. 34 35

Huang Si later demonstrated her resurrection to Dong Yao, Xi Yuan, and Li Huo. Although he tried to free her from her soul-level subordination, Xiao Hua resisted the final severance through her own devotion, pleading not to be abandoned by her “God.” 37

Return to the Human Race

Six years after her first death, Huang Si ordered Xiao Hua to forget the period following her resurrection and returned her to Shu Zi at Fang Mountain. The Human Race regarded her return as a miracle of the Ancestral Deities. 40

She resumed life with Shu Zi and their now-grown son, but the missing years and suppressed memories left her with an intense, unexplained emptiness. She kept herself occupied with household work, tribal ceremonies, and accepting the community's care, yet could not escape the feeling that something essential had been forgotten. 40

Seeking relief from her anxiety, Xiao Hua visited the Great Temple and found comfort in surrendering her worries to the Ancestral Deities. She chose to leave her household and become a full-time shaman despite Shu Zi's objections. 41

She mastered shamanic knowledge unusually quickly and made her ceremonial debut less than a month later. Her solemn presence and devout bearing earned the tribe's immediate reverence. 41

Over subsequent decades, Xiao Hua traveled through Human Race territory with other shamans, established temples and altars, and spread worship of the Ancestral Deities. She became known as the Great Shaman while Shu Zi expanded the Human Race through conquest. 42

Final death and the Heavenly Realm

Xiao Hua continued preaching during the wars that followed Shu Zi's death. At age eighty-four, she died in the Central Temple surrounded by shamans and believers, hoping to meet Shu Zi again after death. 44

Unlike an ordinary soul, hers did not dissipate because it remained strengthened and subordinate to Huang Si. It retained a complete personality, self-awareness, logic, and partial memories of her own life. Huang Si returned her to the Ring platform—the prototype of the Heavenly Realm—and ordered her to remain there. 45 46
