Background / History

Tang Xiao travelled with Tang Hao and more than a dozen Clear Sky Tang Clan direct descendants toward Sea God Island, seeking strength through its trials. During the voyage, he respectfully questioned Sea Dragon Douluo about their arrival, though he privately resented Sea Dragon’s repeated, unhelpful assurances that they would arrive “soon.” 44 46

On Sea God Island, Tang Xiao and Tang Hao cultivated daily and regularly invited Bo Saixi to dine. Tang Xiao remained composed when he saw Bo Saixi in distress, though he also felt sympathy for her. His standing deteriorated under the Sea Soul Masters’ authority: Sea Spear Douluo compelled him to cook for Lan Fozi and assist with the Clear Sky Clan’s manual labor. 69 72

During the battle involving the Clear Sky Tang Clan and the Rakshasa faction, Tang Xiao—then a Spirit Douluo—was overwhelmed while fighting one of the enemy’s heads. He retreated alongside Tang Hao after Tang Zhen ordered a withdrawal. 75

A coconut crab later injured Tang Xiao severely, after which he was described as having been castrated. The Clear Sky Sect’s members used this condition to reject his claim to succeed the deceased Tang Zhen as Sect Master. Tang Xiao escaped Clear Sky Island with Tang Hao and Tang Yuehua rather than remain for the sect’s internal struggle. 92 93

In Nuoding City, Tang Xiao became Tang Hao’s constant protector during Tang Hao’s pregnancy and helped raise Tang San with Tang Yuehua. When Bibi Dong threatened Tang San, he intervened and emphasized that Tang San was the only remaining successor of their lineage. 96 98 99 114

Qian Xunji later threatened Tang Xiao into resuming the Sea God Divine Trial. Tang Xiao left Tang San and Tang Xiaomei a farewell note and ten thousand Gold Soul Coins before returning to Sea God Island. There, Sea Dragon Douluo attacked him over the Clear Sky Tang Clan’s past betrayal, and Poseidon assigned Tang Xiao a new trial: endure the Sea Soul Masters’ wrath for three years. 122 123

While on Sea God Island, Tang Xiao shielded his niece Xiao Wu and grandniece Tang Wutong when Qian Xunji took an interest in them. Qian Xunji retaliated by using Mental Psychokinesis to crush the bones in Tang Xiao’s left foot, leaving him to undergo amputation. 243

Tang Xiao is markedly calmer and steadier than Tang Hao. While Tang Hao reacted emotionally to Bo Saixi’s distress, Tang Xiao regained his composure and assessed Qian Xunji’s presence and strength. 69

He is protective of his family and persistent about preserving the Clear Sky bloodline. He guarded Tang Hao through pregnancy, treated Tang San as a treasured child, and prioritized Tang San’s survival even when Tang Hao was willing to refuse Bibi Dong’s demand. 96 98 99

Tang Xiao can also be proud and resentful when humiliated. He bitterly hated being reduced to cooking for Sea God Island’s transformed soul beast but restrained himself because he knew he could not defeat Sea Spear Douluo. 72
