Background / History

Xiao Wu lived at the Lake of Life in the Star Dou Forest with Da Ming and Er Ming. Ah Rou, her mother, had already transformed into a human and left the forest while approaching her tribulation, leaving Xiao Wu and her two younger siblings as the area's remaining 100,000-year soul beasts. 14

She led a large group of Soft Bone Rabbits while they fed on Blue Silver Grass, including its roots. Their grazing was destructive enough to threaten the grassland despite the Star Dou Forest's unusually rapid plant growth. 14

Qian Xunji targeted the three siblings during his God Trials. He killed Xiao Wu with the remotely controlled Angel Holy Sword; her 100,000-year soul ring appeared after her death. Er Ming and Da Ming were then killed shortly afterward. 14

Much later, Qian Xunji forced Qian Renxue's soul into Xiao Wu's body, sealed it there, and had the body transformed to resemble Xiao Wu. He delivered this composite being, called Xiao Wu Xue, to Ah Rou. 109

Xiao Wu's consciousness later replaces Tang Xiaomei's consciousness and memories, making Tang Xiaomei's body another vessel for Xiao Wu's soul. 121

During the later Shrek conflict, Xiao Wu sacrifices herself to Ning Rongrong. She subsequently reappears through rebirth as Tang Xiaowu, a six-year-old human child on Sea God Island. Upon recovering her memories, she identifies herself as the Xiao Wu who had been Tang San's wife in her prior life. 237 240 252

Xiao Wu recalls that, in her prior life, bearing the God King-level Asura God Position placed an unbearable burden on her body and divine soul. Combined with an illness born from longing, this ultimately led to her death. 256

Appearance

In her soul-beast form, Xiao Wu is a large 100,000-year Soft Bone Rabbit described as sturdy as a yak. 14 Her transformed humanoid body is later seen in a pink bunny-girl outfit with long black braided hair. 121

  • Large buckteeth in rabbit form. 14
  • Long black braid in transformed form. 121
  • Her transformed body is recognized by Tang San as carrying a distinctive rabbit scent. 121
  • In her later rebirth, she appears as a six-year-old human girl named Tang Xiaowu. 240 252

Personality

Before her death, Xiao Wu is chiefly depicted as the leader of her rabbit descendants and as a member of a close-knit sibling group. Er Ming's immediate grief at her death underscores their bond. 14

Most of the later behavior associated with “Xiao Wu” belongs to Qian Renxue inhabiting Xiao Wu's body, not to Xiao Wu herself. The possessed body is cold toward Tang San, accepts his support without gratitude, and becomes entangled in Qian Renxue's resentment, desires, and identity crisis. 121 153 154 159

After recovering her own memories in her reborn identity, Xiao Wu remains fiercely loyal to Tang San and insists that only he can inherit the Sea God Position. She is nevertheless distressed by the altered family relationships created by her rebirth, including Tang Hao becoming her mother and Tang San becoming her biological elder brother. 240 241
