Background / History
Ning Rongrong was born to Ning Fengzhi and Gu Rong of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Ning Fengzhi initially hoped that her daughter would inherit Gu Rong's Bone Dragon Martial Soul, which could produce a Titled Douluo-level combatant for the sect. 115
Upon awakening the Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda and Bone Dragon as twin martial souls, Ning Rongrong recovered her memories as the Nine-Colored Goddess. The realization that this life differed radically from her previous one left her disoriented, particularly after learning that Ning Fengzhi was now her mother and that the sect's history had changed. She revealed her reincarnation to Ning Fengzhi, and the two exchanged information about godhood inheritances and the altered world. 128
After discovering the hostility between the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and Clear Sky Sect, Rongrong prioritized her own survival and her sect's future over her former loyalty to Tang San. She shared knowledge of resources such as Whale Rubber, Soul Cores, and Tang San's poison-storage method, urged the sect to recruit Dugu Bo, and attempted to claim opportunities Tang San once relied upon. 129 132
Tang Hao later destroyed Seven Treasure New City and annihilated nearly all sect disciples who had remained at the headquarters. Rongrong returned to the ruins devastated by the loss of her home and the sect that had supported her. 230 231
When Ning Fengzhi and Gu Rong demanded that she choose between Tang San and her family, Rongrong chose Tang San. Gu Rong subsequently announced their severance of ties, leaving her without the sect, its privileges, or her status as its heir. 232
Appearance
Ning Rongrong is described as a slender, beautiful young woman. Her appearance in this life initially disappoints her because she compares it unfavorably to her former self. 172 173
- Slender build. 172
- Often carries a folding fan, which she uses to conceal her expressions. 174
- Wears white lace opera gloves when formally recruiting teammates. 201
- Uses a gas mask when fighting amid poisonous mist. 214
Personality
Rongrong is pragmatic, calculating, and deeply conscious of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's political position. Even while professing love for Tang San, she initially refuses to let him destroy her family or endanger her life. Her preferred solution is to seize his opportunities, bind him to her sect, and turn his strength toward her own goals. 129 171
Her affection for Tang San is possessive rather than selfless. She seeks to make him marry into the sect, demands exclusive devotion as the price of returning Xiao Wu, and treats him as someone she intends to keep under her control. 175 181 Following the sect's destruction, however, she ultimately chooses Tang San over her parents and former sect. 232
She is also ambitious about godhood. She believes her twin martial souls, undead magic, Soul Core knowledge, and a potential Hundred-Thousand-Year Spirit Ring could let her reach Rank 99 and create a divine position without relying on the Sea God Trial. 174 201 She nevertheless remains interested in inheriting the Sea God Position and believes her twin martial souls could qualify her for a god-level Nine Trials. 201 228
Rongrong is intensely jealous of women whom she considers competitors for Tang San. This possessiveness leads her to order Zhu Zhuqing to assassinate Hu Liena, though the Rakshasa God intervenes and enslaves Hu Liena instead. 229 She also envies Qian Renxue's rebirth in Xiao Wu's body and wishes she herself had received the same opportunity. 238
