Background

Zhu Zhuqing was bound by an engagement to Dai Mubai and expected to face her older sister, Zhu Zhuyun, in a life-or-death duel. With Zhu Zhuyun older and more highly cultivated, the Zhu Family placed its support behind her instead. Zhu Zhuyun repeatedly targeted Zhu Zhuqing, including sending assassins after her. Zhu Zhuqing ultimately fled to find Dai Mubai and resist the fate imposed on her. 19

In Soto City, Zhu Zhuqing heard Lin Ye’s unspoken thoughts and learned that Dai Mubai might be at the Rose Hotel with other women. She investigated the claim herself, leading to Dai Mubai’s public scandal and arrest by Spirit Hall enforcement. 18 20
