Background

Naruto arrived at the Konoha Ninja Academy entrance examination alone, unlike most candidates who were accompanied by parents or guardians. His poor test scores drew ridicule from other children, but he remained determined to become the strongest Hokage and earn the village's recognition. 2 5

Lu Yu comforted Naruto after the entrance exam and helped bring him into the Ino–Shika–Cho group, which made him noticeably more cheerful. Naruto also became useful to Lu Yu's group as the person most likely to take blame when their mischief caused trouble. 4 6
