Background

Shimizu was an Uchiha Academy student a little over six years old when he began pursuing medical ninjutsu. Fearing that Kaguya Ōtsutsuki’s success would reduce him to a memoryless White Zetsu, he resolved to seize every opportunity to control his own fate 8. He had already been using the Simulator for more than twenty days by the time he began focused Uchiha shuriken training, seeking rapid growth before Itachi could outpace him permanently 10.

His self-taught medical skill impressed Yakushi Nonō after he healed a cut on his own palm. Although she considered him too young for formal instruction, she promised to introduce him to medical-ninjutsu teachers after his Academy graduation 8. Hiruzen Sarutobi viewed Shimizu’s medical aptitude and public kindness as potential grounds for making him a bridge between the Uchiha Clan and Konoha, rejecting Danzō’s proposal to recruit him into Root 12.
