Background / History
Wong was one of the Ancient One's direct disciples alongside Mordo and Xiang Qian. He was present when the Ancient One disclosed Kaecilius's fall to dark magic, reacting with concern over their missing fellow disciple. 99 100
He and Xiang Qian became martial brothers with a familiar but sometimes exasperated rapport. Wong frequently questioned Xiang Qian's unconventional views on dark magic and his conduct around Wanda Maximoff, yet continued to work alongside him during major crises. 100 291 392 401
During Silver Surfer's assault, Wong maintained the Mirror Dimension until its collapse became imminent. Xiang Qian took over the spatial structure and ordered him to escape through a portal. 239 240
Wong later summoned Xiang Qian back to Kamar-Taj when Thor challenged its disciples. 271 He also restrained Pietro Maximoff after Pietro's reckless use of his speed became disruptive. 290 291
When Chthon's forces attacked Kamar-Taj, Wong fought on the front line, defended the sanctuary against a massive attacker and invading spacecraft, and coordinated with the other sorcerers while Xiang Qian and Wanda confronted Chthon within the Soul Realm. 387 388 He subsequently accompanied Xiang Qian to the Hong Kong Sanctum during Dormammu's incursion. 390
Appearance
Wong is described as plump, round, and broad-built, though his combat movement is notably agile. 237 388
- Often referred to as a “plump” or “round” master. 237 388
- Uses a rope dart as his signature weapon. 290 388
- Wields magical blades and shields in battle. 388
Personality
Wong is honest, solemn, and good-natured, though his patience is regularly tested by Xiang Qian's jokes, provocations, and romantic schemes. 182 291 392 He is practical in emergencies, directly assessing threats and focusing on Kamar-Taj's defense rather than indulging in speculation. 239 401
He is deeply protective of Kamar-Taj and its inhabitants. His concern for Wanda's growing connection to Chthon and his frustration at Pietro's recklessness reflect a strict sense of responsibility. 290 385 Despite disagreeing with Xiang Qian, he trusts his martial brother's judgment in battle and follows his instructions when the situation demands it. 240 390
Abilities & Skills
