Tang Wulin attended Eastsea Academy's Class Five after his parents disappeared. At the academy, Xie Xie and Zhou Changxi bullied him, but he sincerely forgave them after they apologized. This kindness drew Chen Ye's attention, and Tang Wulin began calling him “Brother Chen.” 8 10

Unknown to Tang Wulin, Tang San's divine consciousness, known to him as Old Tang, was hidden inside his body alongside the Golden Dragon King's sealed bloodline. Chen Ye discovered this consciousness early and cultivated Tang Wulin's trust while intending to exploit it. 7 10

When Tang Wulin needed rare spirit herbs and dragon blood, Chen Ye arranged their delivery. Tang Wulin used the materials to unlock his first seal, suffering intense pain and awakening Tang San's divine sense; Chen Ye also imprinted an unknown totem on his forehead. 31 32 Chen Ye's interference later accelerated Tang Wulin's Golden Dragon King Martial Soul fusion. 35

Gu Yue and the fierce beasts eventually captured Tang Wulin to strip away his Golden Dragon King bloodline. The process destabilized the sealed power and awakened Tang San's consciousness. Chen Ye intervened, suppressed Tang San through the City of Miracles, and stripped Tang Wulin of the Golden Dragon King's core will. 138 139 140

After losing most of the Golden Dragon King bloodline, Tang Wulin retained ten percent of its power and awakened the Clear Sky Hammer and Life Blue Silver Grass. The Body Sect later helped him evolve the latter into the Life Blue Silver Emperor. 178 During the conflict against the Abyss Plane, he used the Life Blue Silver Grass to support Yun Xiao at the cost of his fundamental vitality. 192 By the aftermath, his powers had been completely dismantled, though his life was preserved. 199

Tang Wulin is notably kind and forgiving. Despite being bullied by Xie Xie and Zhou Changxi, he accepted their apologies without resentment. 8 He is also naïve in his early academy life, particularly regarding Chen Ye, whose kindness he trusts without understanding his hidden motives. 10 31

He is determined when facing danger or pain, concealing the truth of his seals while taking the spirit-herb mixture needed to unlock them. 31 32 He is protective toward Na'er and later becomes more decisive, taking responsibility for his companions and directly confronting Qin Tianyi over Xie Xie's injuries. 42 128
