Though outwardly cold and restrained, he is protective of his students and capable of guilt and emotional conflict. Yun Luo’s death leaves him troubled by whether his roommate had been controlled and whether he could have acted differently. 27 28 40

Class Five and the Grade Advancement Tournament

Wu Zhangkong begins organizing combat matches to identify Class Five’s strongest students for the grade advancement tournament. He chooses Yun Xiao as Gu Yue’s admission opponent and later gives Tang Wulin, Xie Xie, and Yun Xiao intensive individual training. 16 19 20

During the Class One match, he abruptly intervenes to stop Chen Ye’s flame slash from striking Tang Wulin and Yun Xiao. The attack leaves a small wound through his frost protection, making him recognize Chen Ye’s abnormal strength. 35

Yun Luo Incident

After noticing Yun Luo behaving abnormally, Wu Zhangkong follows his roommate to the training hall and becomes trapped in an illusionary realm. There, a masked figure with his hair and techniques prohibits his ice element and Martial Soul, leaving him disoriented and vulnerable. 26

He later breaks free from an illusion involving Long Bing and tries to save the mortally wounded Yun Luo, but an unknown force again forbids his use of ice. Yun Luo dies, and Wu Zhangkong ultimately kills him in self-defense after he is exposed as an Evil Soul Master. 27 29

The incident leaves Wu Zhangkong guilt-ridden and distracted. During a later spar with Chen Ye, Chen Ye exploits those feelings by forcing memories of Yun Luo to the surface, allowing a three-ringed Chen Ye to push him back despite his Battle Armor. 40

Class Zero Instructor

Following the tournament, Wu Zhangkong teaches Class Zero using demanding advanced coursework and practical combat exercises. His instruction is credited with the marked improvement in Tang Wulin’s group’s coordination and fighting ability. 38

He supervises the students’ Spirit Ascension Platform experiences, though Chen Ye, Gu Yue, and Yun Xiao’s unusual conduct repeatedly leaves him frustrated and at a loss. 53 54 58

Shrek Academy Visit

Wu Zhangkong arranges for Chen Ye and Yun Xiao to visit Shrek Academy, believing Chen Ye should have access to greater opportunities despite his own complicated history with Shrek. 99

After Chen Ye is rejected by Yun Ming, Wu Zhangkong chooses to leave Shrek with him rather than remain. He apologizes to Chen Ye, fearing that the rejection by Shrek’s leadership will prevent other elite institutions from accepting him. 101
