Xie Xie is impulsive, expressive, and quick to form attachments. He is fiercely protective of Qian Jue. A vision of Qian Jue dying while Xie Xie is unable to help convinces him to accept a spirit bone and become Qian Jue's guard. 19 He also shows perceptiveness regarding clan rivalries, correctly suspecting that Qiangu Zhangting's challenge stems from resentment over Qian Jue receiving attention and resources. 33

Xie Xie first encounters Qian Jue at Eastsea Academy, immediately feels drawn to him, and introduces himself with unusual enthusiasm. 8 During Wu Zhangkong's entrance test, he serves as the team's flanking attacker, helping force Wu Zhangkong to concede rather than face his sneak attack. 9

Bond with Qian Jue

After Qian Jue treats his wound, Xie Xie declares Qian Jue his “mother” and “little brother,” sparking further conflict with the possessive Gu Yue. 10 Qian Jue later gives him a Dark Demon Dragon Left Arm Bone; after seeing a vision of Qian Jue in mortal danger, Xie Xie accepts the gift and determines to grow strong enough to protect him. 19
