Shisui is gentle and approachable in ordinary interactions, greeting Naraku with a smile and taking an immediate interest in the young recruit's ability. He respects talent, viewing Itachi as both a friend and a protégé whose growth brings him genuine satisfaction. 19 61

He does not kill indiscriminately: Shisui spared an Anbu whose attack lacked killing intent, but killed another whose intent to murder him was unmistakable. 500

Background and History

Shisui was already a renowned Konoha Anbu when Naraku joined the organization. Assigned to the same squad, he tested Naraku in a sparring match, using his Body Flicker Technique, Sharingan, and Fire Release. Naraku's performance led Shisui to judge that Itachi had found a worthy match. 19

During Danzō's operation at Konoha Hospital, Shisui obeyed orders to confront Naraku but hesitated when Itachi intervened. He first dueled Itachi, then fought Naraku, whose sealing chains and sensory ability forced Shisui to adapt at extreme speed. Danzō ultimately intervened with Shisui's Sharingan as his true objective; the Third Hokage later ordered Danzō to return the seized eye to Fugaku. 59 61 62 68
