Background / History
Konoha is the ninja village from which Uchiha Hanazuki, Anko, Yugao, Orochimaru, Sarutobi Hiruzen, and other major figures operate. Hanazuki graduates from its Ninja Academy under Orochimaru’s supervision before being sent to war alongside other young ninja. 1 3
During the Third Shinobi World War, Konoha mobilizes academy graduates and established shinobi against Kumogakure, Sunagakure, Iwagakure, and later Kirigakure. Its leadership repeatedly frames these deployments through the Will of Fire, despite the village’s reliance on child soldiers and heavy battlefield losses. 3 22 36
The village survives the Battle of Mount Kikyo after Hanazuki suppresses Chiyo’s force, assists against the allied Sand and Cloud offensive, and helps divert Killer Bee’s Tailed Beast Bomb. The blast destroys Mount Kikyo itself. 12 14 15
Following the war, Konoha pursues armistice with Kirigakure and sends Hanazuki as an envoy to negotiate the return of the Seven Ninja Swords and compensation. The village then selects Namikaze Minato over Orochimaru as Fourth Hokage, largely because Minato possesses greater trust among Konoha’s jonin and the Nine-Tails’ jinchūriki. 66 68 73
Minato dies during the Nine-Tails incident, after which Hiruzen resumes leadership as acting Hokage. Hanazuki’s suppression of the Nine-Tails, wartime achievements, and medical contributions make him a possible Hokage candidate, but the senior leadership refuses to nominate him because of its suspicion of the Uchiha Clan. 77 84
Konoha later endures the Konoha Crush, in which Akatsuki, Orochimaru, Sound ninja, and puppet forces attack the village while multiple jinchūriki prepare Tailed Beast Bombs around its borders. The crisis culminates in the death of Hiruzen and leaves Konoha’s political order deeply destabilized. 191 194 214
After the Fourth Shinobi World War, Konoha joins the permanent Allied Shinobi Forces. The hidden-village system, national borders, and daimyō rule are abolished under the new order led through Void Night Palace, while Konoha itself develops into a modern metropolis. 239 240 243

Military Affairs
Third Shinobi World War
Konoha’s forces are spread across several fronts, including conflicts with Cloud, Sand, Rock, and Mist. The high command considers its lines overstretched and its ordinary ninja casualties unsustainable. 3 22 36
- Cloud front — Hanazuki’s team encounters the Fourth Raikage and Killer Bee during reconnaissance, escaping with no casualties. 5 7
- Sand front — Hanazuki is deployed against Chiyo and suppresses her forces, including the Chikamatsu Ten. 10 12
- Mount Kikyo — Konoha faces a Sand–Cloud joint force led by the Fourth Raikage, Killer Bee, Rasa, and Pakura. 9 13
- Rock front — Hanazuki is assigned to contain Onoki, while Konoha targets Kannabi Bridge to disrupt Iwagakure supplies. 34 36
- Mist front — Konoha’s camp in the Land of Bears is attacked; Hanazuki is ordered to rescue captured Konoha ninja. 43 44 46
Battlefield Support Doctrine
Sarutobi Hiruzen assigns Hanazuki a broad battlefield-support mission: independently guard against incursions by other major powers and prevent another penetration like the Mount Kikyo assault. 22
Konoha also selects Kannabi Bridge, an Iwagakure supply route in the Land of Grass, as a strategic target. Destroying it and marking the area with chakra is intended to sever Rock’s logistical capacity and hasten the war’s end. 36
Postwar Security Crises
Konoha negotiates a ceasefire with Kirigakure after the Third Shinobi World War, dispatching Hanazuki to return the Seven Ninja Swords and compel a decision on the treaty. 66 68
The village later faces renewed tensions with Kumogakure following an attempted Byakugan abduction and the dispute over Hyuga Hizashi’s proposed sacrifice. Hiruzen attempts to prevent open war, while Hanazuki openly condemns a peace built upon sacrificing a child’s father. 96 97
During the Konoha Crush, Akatsuki and Orochimaru’s forces infiltrate the village, Sasori unleashes the Performance of a Hundred Puppets, and enemy jinchūriki assemble around Konoha to devastate it with Tailed Beast Bombs. Konoha’s Anbu, clan shinobi, and surviving elites mobilize in defense. 191 194
Fourth Shinobi World War
Konoha becomes part of the Allied Shinobi Forces after Danzo is initially installed as the alliance’s commander. The alliance later assembles in the Land of Snow against Akatsuki and the revived forces supporting Madara’s plans. 207 209 225 226
Naruto presents Sage Mode-enhanced Blut Vene to the Five Kage as a defensive technique intended to reduce casualties among ordinary shinobi. The technique becomes a major Allied Shinobi Forces asset, allowing shinobi to endure attacks that would otherwise be fatal and eventually providing a means to harm Ten-Tails jinchūriki Madara. 226 235
Internal Politics
Konoha’s leaders view Hanazuki’s exceptional strength as both a wartime asset and a potential threat, particularly because he is an Uchiha and Orochimaru’s student. Danzo argues that Orochimaru could eliminate Hanazuki should he betray the village, while Hiruzen insists that Hanazuki must defend Konoha when it is endangered. 7 17
The Uchiha clan’s relationship with the village is strained. The Military Police Force’s poor public image, the clan’s unity, and its exclusion from central authority contribute to mutual suspicion between the Uchiha and Konoha’s leadership. 40 42
Fugaku hopes Hanazuki can become a bond between the Uchiha clan and the village, but Hanazuki rejects immediate service in the Military Police Force and avoids clan affairs. 15 40
After the Nine-Tails incident, Konoha’s leadership resettles the Uchiha Clan on the village outskirts. The relocation, the continued suspicion surrounding the Nine-Tails attack, and the village’s refusal to treat Hanazuki as a viable Hokage candidate further intensify Uchiha resentment. 84 86
The Hyuga Clan’s internal conflict also becomes a major village-security issue. Hiruzen deploys more than one hundred Anbu to prevent a civil war between the main and branch families, while Hanazuki brokers terms that allow the branch family to relocate beside the Uchiha and compete for mission shares independently. 104 105
The Hyuga Branch Family subsequently becomes the Uchiha’s first major ally, though it later contributes personnel and Byakugan-based techniques to Konoha’s Medical Team. This alliance increases the political weight of both clans and alarms Konoha’s senior leadership. 106 151
Fugaku eventually proposes a coup against Konoha’s higher-ups. Although he initially describes it as a bloodless revolution, the Uchiha crisis ends in a massacre in which Itachi kills his clansmen. Later revelations show that Danzo and Root ordered the extermination of Uchiha women, children, and elders as well. 152 154 212
Danzo’s long record of covert crimes—including collusion with Orochimaru, attacks on political rivals, and the murder of Kagami Uchiha for his Mangekyō Sharingan—is publicly exposed by Hua Yue and Konoha’s clan heads. Danzo is stripped of his political support and escapes after using Izanagi. 111 213 214
The war’s aftermath ends the political supremacy of the old Hokage, daimyō, and noble systems. Konoha’s clans and shinobi are incorporated into the Allied Shinobi Forces, whose stated purpose is to replace the old system of ninja as disposable tools with a unified order focused on public protection and peace. 240 243
