| Water Release and refined chakra control | 45 | Applied Water Release with increasingly refined chakra control, including for practical work around the Senju farming area. 45 |
| Thirteen Sun Breathing forms | 66 | Trained to use all thirteen sword forms of Sun Breathing, though using them without injuring himself remained dependent on further physical conditioning. 66 |
| Sun Breathing: Fire Wheel | 74 | Used the Fifth Form, Fire Wheel, while defending Kiyosu Kasugayama’s residence from black-clad attackers. 74 |
| Fire Release combat | 82 | Used his flames as Fire Release against Kaguya ninja, although their Shikotsumyaku bone defenses resisted the technique. 82 |
| Mangekyō Sharingan and golden Susanoo | 85 | Awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan, gaining Amenominaka in his left eye and Jade Ancestor in his right, as well as manifesting a golden Susanoo. The strain caused him to collapse afterward. 85 |
| Space-time manipulation | 104 | Began using Jade Ancestor for short-range spatial travel and space distortion; Amenominaka’s time-related power remained difficult for him to control. 104 |

| Mangekyō Sharingan transplant | 218 | Received a Mangekyō Sharingan eye transplant before departing on a mission, temporarily losing his sight during recovery. 218 |
Background / History
Kyogawa awakened memories of a past life as an infant. Born with a strange flame ability, he accidentally killed several midwives and was blamed for appearing on a day of Senju defeat. The clan branded him a “monster,” while his father, Senju Butsuma, kept him confined under clan pressure. His mother, Senju Haruko, remained protective of him; the gloves she found for him suppressed his flames. 1 6
After his release, Butsuma attempted to teach him ninjutsu, but Kyogawa’s chakra pathways appeared obstructed. He could only produce a weak Clone Technique briefly, so Butsuma shifted him into punishing physical training. Kyogawa’s Senju constitution, reflexes, recovery, and healing technique made him more suited to taijutsu than conventional ninjutsu at the time. 3
His standing within the clan changed when he publicly healed a critically wounded Senju and then treated an entire squad. Rather than the feared child who had once been avoided, he became a valuable medical ninja whose abilities improved the survival of Senju fighters. 5 6 40
Kyogawa was disturbed by the ninja world’s treatment of ninja as tools for feudal lords and by the clan’s dependence on missions for food. During winter shortages, he questioned why the Senju did not farm their fertile land. After returning from a mission, he began planting potatoes, sweet potatoes, and corn to improve the clan’s food security. 6 7 29
He entered combat while still a child. His first mission involved escorting nobles with Senju Chenghe, followed by a battle against bandits that left him sickened by bloodshed. Later, he killed an Uchiha ninja to save Itama, then survived a near-fatal pursuit by Sharingan users at the cost of activating “Thou Shalt Not Die.” The deaths of Kawarama and Itama hardened his resolve to change the ninja world, though he continued to define himself primarily as someone who saves lives. 9 11 35 37 38 49
Kyogawa later became a central medical asset in the three-clan war against the Uchiha and Hagoromo. His treatment of wounded Senju dramatically improved their survival rate and earned him exceptional prestige, including the title “Angel.” However, his Healing Jutsu and “Thou Shalt Not Die” both consume life force, forcing him to confront the danger of making the Senju dependent on a single medical ninja. 51 54 56
After awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan during the Kaguya and Hagoromo attack, Kyogawa became the focus of a dispute over his lineage. Although both Senju and Uchiha questioned how a Senju child possessed the Sharingan, he remained loyal to the Senju while using his unusual position to argue for reconciliation and an alliance between the two clans. 85 87 95
Kyogawa’s influence was crucial to the creation and expansion of the Senju–Uchiha Alliance. He acted as a mediator between its former enemies, participated in legal reform and diplomacy, and advocated for a peaceful “Shinobi Country” that included commoners rather than only ninja clans. 152 154 167 168
Following years of poverty alleviation, political development, and alliance-building, Kyogawa was elected King when the Shinobi Country was formally established. Nine years after unification, his rule had overseen major advances in education, healthcare, technology, infrastructure, and law while preventing large-scale war. 221 222
Appearance
Kyogawa is a small, fair-skinned boy whose appearance is repeatedly noted as unusually delicate for a Senju. His features are often compared to those of the Uchiha. 5 8
- Short white hair, later described as soft enough to rest on his shoulders. 3 50
- Black, almond-shaped or cat-like eyes with long eyelashes. 5 35
- Often wears gloves originally used to suppress his flame ability. 1 6
- His body runs unusually warm; Breathing Style use can make his skin flush red. 14
- In battlefield medical work, he is sometimes left covered in blood, giving the other children an intimidating impression. 50
- His hair had grown past his shoulders by the time of his later meetings with Izuna at the Naka River. 109
- After awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan, his black eyes can become scarlet with a black sun-like Mangekyō pattern. 85
- He temporarily wore his eyes covered after receiving a Mangekyō Sharingan transplant. 218
Personality
Kyogawa is compassionate, practical, and unusually reflective for his age. He is horrified by the expectation that children kill and die as ninja, rejects the idea that ninja should exist merely as tools, and dreams of changing the world’s political order. 7 32 38 49
He is also resourceful and socially perceptive. He earns affection through healing, cooking, farming, and a deliberately endearing manner that helps him collect Cuddle Points. He can be impulsive when emotionally invested, such as intervening during the confrontation between Hashirama and Madara. 7 29 35 47
Despite his distaste for violence, Kyogawa adapts to war when survival demands it. After his first kills and the deaths of his brothers, he chooses medical and support work where possible rather than becoming an executioner. 11 35 49
Kyogawa’s compassion extends beyond ninja clans. His encounters with impoverished border villagers convinced him that ordinary people were also victims of the ninja world’s wars, strengthening his belief that peace required a nation serving both civilians and shinobi. 145 147
As he matured, Kyogawa became an increasingly capable diplomat, administrator, and negotiator. Though he initially struggled with political intrigue, Tobirama’s guidance and years of experience enabled him to protect Alliance interests and eventually govern from the perspective of a national leader. 73 221
Despite becoming king, he dislikes the exhausting complexities and trivial burdens of political office and repeatedly wishes to resign under the electoral system he established. 222
Abilities & Skills
Healing Jutsu
Kyogawa possesses advanced medical ninjutsu that made him indispensable to the Senju clan.
- Rapidly heals wounds, including life-threatening abdominal injuries. 5
- Treated wounded squads and later worked in battlefield rear lines, increasing Senju survival rates. 6 40
- Can heal himself, though repeated use accelerated his cell metabolism and interfered with chakra absorption. 41
- Could not effectively heal his own injuries after activating “Thou Shalt Not Die.” 38
- Can restore devastating battlefield injuries in minutes, leaving little or no scarring. 56
- Its excessive use consumes life force, so he later uses it more selectively despite the demands of wartime medical work. 51 54
- Can stimulate plant growth, causing one of Hashirama’s Wood Release flower buds to bloom immediately. 105
Flame Ability
A mysterious innate ability that allowed Kyogawa to manipulate flames from infancy.
- Initially uncontrollable; he burned furniture and was associated with the deaths of midwives at his birth. 1 6
- His flames can evaporate weak Water Style techniques before they reach him. 40
- He uses the flame technique to help stabilize his chakra for water-walking. 44
- The ability was suppressed by gloves and later proved difficult to manifest even after their removal. 1 6
- Can use his flames for propulsion, blasting them toward the ground to evade attacks in midair. 24
- Can cover his Sun Breathing sword techniques in flames to increase their power. 74
- His Fire Release is formidable against ordinary opponents but can be resisted by the Kaguya clan’s hardened Shikotsumyaku bones. 82
Breathing Styles
Kyogawa obtained Breathing Style techniques through his system and later pursued Sun Breathing.
- Greatly heats his body and can visibly flush his skin red. 14
- Requires a suitable weapon; a kunai broke when used as a substitute for a Nichirin Sword. 14
- Sun Breathing slashes can match the threat of Fire Style techniques in combat. 36
- Excessive use damages his wrists, arms, and lungs. 36
- Uses breathing to control his muscles, blood vessels, and bleeding even when seriously wounded. 26
- Trained in all thirteen forms of Sun Breathing, although his body initially could not withstand their demands without backlash. 66
- Known forms include Fourth Form: Fake Rainbow, Fifth Form: Fire Wheel, and Seventh Form: Beneficent Radiance. 74 83 84
“Thou Shalt Not Die”
A system skill with initially unknown conditions that activated when Kyogawa was mortally wounded.
- Prevented his death after he was impaled through the chest and suffered severe lung damage. 37 38
- Left him unable to use Healing Jutsu effectively on his own wounds afterward. 38
- Required roughly a month of natural recovery despite his Senju vitality. 38
- Can be used to save other dying people, but its incomplete state cannot restore lost limbs. 51
- Its use carries a substantial life-force cost and therefore cannot be used indiscriminately. 51 55
Taijutsu and Swordsmanship
Unable to use ordinary ninjutsu reliably in his early years, Kyogawa was trained heavily in physical combat.
- Possesses strong stamina, reflexes, and recovery due to Senju blood. 3
- Defeated Senju Yuya by evading his kunai and knocking him down after Yuya’s Water Style failed against Kyogawa’s flames. 40
- Began strength and sword training under Kawarama to wield his heavy Nichirin Sword. 31
- Uses a sword in combat, including his first killing of an Uchiha to protect Itama. 35
- Uses refined body control and Sun Breathing footwork to evade and counter stronger opponents. 24 83 84
- His swordsmanship was initially inferior to Izuna’s Sharingan-assisted Uchiha Style, but he could avoid direct eye contact to resist Izuna’s genjutsu and persist in a prolonged duel. 79
Chakra Control
Kyogawa’s chakra use was initially impaired, but later improved under Tobirama’s guidance.
- His chakra pathways appeared obstructed during early Clone Technique training. 3
- Tobirama determined that constant Healing Jutsu use and rapid cell metabolism had disrupted his chakra absorption. 41
- His chakra nature leans toward Water Release. 41
- Successfully learned water-walking after Tobirama identified his unstable chakra output. 43 44
- Developed enough chakra and hand-seal proficiency to perform most ordinary ninjutsu, though he initially lagged behind other Senju of his age. 42
- Uses Water Release in both practical work and combat. 45 53
Mangekyō Sharingan
Kyogawa inexplicably awakened the Uchiha clan’s Mangekyō Sharingan despite being the biological son of Senju Butsuma and Senju Haruko.
- Awakened the Mangekyō while protecting Izuna during the battle against the Kaguya and Hagoromo clans. 85
- His left eye, Amenominaka, governs time and possesses the potential to cross through time. 85 104
- His right eye, Jade Ancestor, governs space, allowing short-range teleportation and space distortion. 85 104
- Can manifest a golden Susanoo armed with an enlarged Nichirin Sword. 85
- Early use placed overwhelming strain on his young body and caused him to faint. 85
- The Mangekyō’s eye-related burden prompted him to seek a solution and eventually undergo an eye transplant. 108 186 218
Tailed Beast Rapport
Kyogawa possesses chakra that tailed beasts perceive as unusually similar to that of the Sage of Six Paths.
- Pacified the Three-Tails, Isobu, through his flame-linked spiritual power and earned its consent to be studied. 151
- Isobu’s trust was influenced by Kyogawa’s Sage-like chakra and his promise to grant it benefits and freedom. 151
- Released Isobu to keep the Nine-Tails, Kurama, company and developed a positive relationship with both tailed beasts. 193
- Learned from the system that tailed beasts are chakra manifestations and potential sources of enormous Cuddle Point value. 120
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Gloves — originally obtained by Haruko; suppress Kyogawa’s flame ability. 1
- Nichirin Sword — a genuine system-provided sword; extremely heavy for Kyogawa at first. His earlier Nichirin Sword shattered while destroying a Gate. 26 31
- Kunai — used in missions and attempted as a Breathing Style weapon, though it broke under the technique. 10 14
- Explosive Tags — Hashirama filled Kyogawa’s ninja scroll with them before a later war. 50
- Chakra Induction Paper — used by Tobirama to determine that Kyogawa’s chakra nature leans toward Water Release. 41
- Jade Seal — a gift from Kiyosu Kasugayama that bears the Senju crest and shares a pattern with Kyogawa’s white jade pendant. 74
- Mangekyō Sharingan transplant — received before a later mission, leaving Kyogawa temporarily blind during his recovery. 218
Relationships
- Senju Butsuma — father and former clan head; initially confined Kyogawa out of fear and pressure, later trained him and gradually formed a more paternal bond during Kyogawa’s recovery. Butsuma eventually accepted the younger generation’s choices and reconciled with Uchiha Tajima after the Senju–Uchiha alliance. 1 3 38 145 213
- Senju Haruko — mother; protected Kyogawa despite the clan’s fear and provided the gloves that suppressed his flames. Kyogawa deeply cherishes her and resolves to accelerate unification when she prepares to leave the living world. 1 215
- Senju Hashirama — eldest brother; Kyogawa’s close supporter, companion, and fellow critic of the ninja system. Hashirama encouraged his sword training and entrusted him with explosive tags for safety. He later offered unconditional support when Kyogawa faced questions about his origins and helped build the Shinobi Country. 3 7 31 50 193 221
- Senju Tobirama — older brother and mentor; attempted to teach Kyogawa ninjutsu, later investigated his chakra problems and helped him develop chakra control. Tobirama subsequently taught him diplomacy and politics, worked alongside him on tailed-beast research, and remained deeply protective of him. 3 41 44 151 221
- Senju Kawarama — older brother and swordsmanship mentor; trained Kyogawa with the Nichirin Sword and was originally killed while serving as a decoy in war. Kyogawa later traveled back in time to rescue him; Kawarama eventually opened a martial arts school. 31 32 203 222
- Senju Itama — older brother and battlefield companion; fought alongside Kyogawa during his first killing and was originally killed during the Uchiha pursuit. He was later restored to the family and eventually became a traveling freelancer. 35 37 215 222
- Senju Chenghe — clansman Kyogawa saved; accompanied him on his first mission, protected him in combat, and became deeply grateful to him. 5 9 28
- Uchiha Izuna — initially met while fishing near the clan border; demonstrated Fire Style, later taught Kyogawa water-walking, and eventually declared him an enemy and future battlefield rival. Their relationship later became one of mutual concern and cooperation, with Izuna accepting Kyogawa as a bridge between the clans and continuing to spar with him after unification. 7 43 47 79 152 222
- Uchiha Madara — companion during the space-time-rift incident and a friend connected through Hashirama; Kyogawa healed him, but their relationship became strained by clan conflict. Madara later supported Kyogawa without reservation, aided his political work, and remained a dependable administrator of Shinobi Country. 20 35 47 138 193 222
- Grandma Naiko — elderly clan member who treats Kyogawa as a grandson and regularly visits or feeds him. 29 38
- Senju Miwako — one of the first children to openly support Kyogawa’s farming effort. She later became a competent medical ninja and battlefield partner, supported him after his exhaustion, and was recognized by Izuna for her business talent. 40 51 54 168
- Senju Qiantang — senior Senju ninja who fought alongside Kyogawa against the Kaguya clan. Kyogawa healed her shattered fingers, while her Earth Release protected and created openings for his Sun Breathing attacks. 82 83
- Isobu — the Three-Tails; initially hostile and distrustful due to captivity, but Kyogawa pacified it and gained its cooperation for research. 151 193
- Kurama — the Nine-Tails; initially suspicious of Kyogawa’s Sage-like chakra, but later interacted with him and Isobu after Kyogawa released the Three-Tails. 193
- Black Zetsu — a covert enemy Kyogawa attempted to destroy with his Mangekyō and golden Susanoo. Black Zetsu survived, investigated Kyogawa’s anomalous powers, and sought to manipulate him for the Eye of the Moon Plan. 85 108
- Obito Uchiha — a Uchiha from another time and world whom Kyogawa supports during rehabilitation. Their conversations informed Kyogawa about Konoha’s later political circumstances and tailed beasts. 120 122
- Mito Uzumaki — Uzumaki princess and later alliance partner. Kyogawa shared ideas for practical sealing techniques with her and supported a relationship between the Alliance and Uzumaki clan based on cooperation rather than political marriage. 169 170
