Background

Vegeta trains on Earth with the singular goal of surpassing Son Goku. His training regimen is intense enough that Bulma must personally call him out of the gravity room to eat. His rivalry with Goku is also tied to his desire to prove that Saiyan royal bloodline warriors surpass ordinary Saiyans. 2 6 10

Tarble's arrival reunites Vegeta with his younger brother. Initially irritated that Tarble knows only of Goku's Super Saiyan transformation, Vegeta soon takes an active role in evaluating and developing Tarble's potential. Tarble's unusually rapid progress makes Vegeta question the Saiyan class system and suspect that Tarble could be the Legendary Super Saiyan. 5 6 14 16

Personality

Vegeta remains proud, blunt, and intensely competitive, particularly where Goku is concerned. He reacts badly to comparisons with Goku and resents the possibility that Goku's training efficiency may have exceeded his own. 5 34

Despite his harsh manner, he has become deeply family-oriented. He accepts Tarble into his household, shows pride rather than resentment when Tarble surpasses him, and considers the loyal Licks part of his family after witnessing his growth. 10 18 21 29

His methods can be ruthless. He executes Abo and Cado after Gohan hesitates, then reprimands Gohan for showing mercy to enemies. He also nearly kills Licks to trigger a Saiyan recovery boost, without explaining the plan beforehand. 9 19
