Background / History

Bulma begins a search for the legendary Dragon Balls, traveling through mountain forests in a distinctive vehicle. She meets Sun Wukong while he is alone in the mountains and explains the Dragon Balls and her mission to him. Believing him to be a naïve child, she asks for his help; he agrees, and they begin their journey together. 3

Their expedition quickly becomes dangerous. Bulma is frightened by ferocious beasts and armed ruffians, but she still attempts to face danger with a weapon when necessary. Watching Wukong defeat threats with overwhelming ease changes her view of him: she comes to recognize his hidden strength and relies on him for protection while continuing to lead the search with her Dragon Radar. 3 4

During the Dragon Ball journey, Bulma and Wukong investigate reports of Oolong's transformation capsule in a remote town, persistently questioning residents until they locate Oolong's home. She later shares news of Launch's unusual dual personality, prompting the group to seek Launch out. 5 13
