Background / History

Konoha is a large shinobi village surrounded by extensive forests. Its Ninja Academy trains chakra-capable children; under a decree of the Second Hokage, children who manifest chakra by a designated age must attend the Academy, even when their clans prefer private instruction. 2

During the peak of the Third Great Ninja War, Konoha's manpower is heavily committed to the front lines. Injuries and shortages leave few suitable team leaders available, leading the village to designate Ye Yuexin and Uchiha Itachi as freelance Genin who may train independently or accept D-rank missions until a capable leader can be assigned. 1

After Ye Yuexin and Itachi expose a Rock Village-backed rogue-ninja operation, the Third Hokage personally receives their report, upgrades the mission to A-rank, and convenes the village elders over the threat of Rock Ninja rear-area activity. 18 Konoha later publicizes Ye Yuexin's victory over Lin Mu—revealed by autopsy to have been an elite jonin—to create a civilian symbol of hope during the war. 19 20

The village continues deploying increasingly young but capable shinobi as wartime demands rise.
