Background / History

Wei En awakens as a new consciousness in the body of a former Specter School intelligence officer. Initially impoverished and unable to afford wizard knowledge, he seeks work to survive and improve his strength. He names the sentient head that meditates for him “Little Ashi,” beginning the development of his Origin Sub-entities. 6

He joins the Kaster City-State Secret Investigation Bureau as an Investigator in Investigation Division One. The job provides a salary, equipment, and direct exposure to the supernatural threats he had hoped to avoid. 9 15

The Ghost Meditation Method becomes central to Wei En’s growth, but it also introduces an unknown aberrant presence into his Origin Core World. The entity claims to be Wei En and remains bound beneath a giant withered tree; Vaklav later resolves the abnormality, allowing Wei En to expand his Origin Sub-entities without the earlier danger. 232 316 317

Wizard Lister eventually reveals that Wei En’s soul was summoned from another world. Lister and other wizards created Wei En’s body, implanted the Loft Family’s Deception bloodline, and endowed him with powers intended to help save the world from destruction. 466

Appearance

Wei En is a well-proportioned Salute man with black hair, gentle facial features, and crimson pupils. His skin was initially described as darker than bronze, while later Origin-related changes leave his face fair and smooth. 6 232

  • Usually dresses in a neat Eastern Continent-style gentleman’s outfit or a Secret Investigation Bureau uniform. 6 18
  • Possesses a black, eye-shaped mark between his brows after his Deception talent manifests. 144
  • During aberrant transformations, black-pupiled tentacles emerge from his back and dark lightning-like patterns spread from his eyes. 144
  • When using Spirit Fusion, system-specific rune imprints can form across his forehead. 288

Personality

Wei En is practical, cautious, and intensely focused on survival. He prioritizes money, knowledge, Survival Points, and useful equipment because he views strength as the only dependable protection in a world filled with contamination, cults, and powerful supernatural beings. 2 38 126

He is also analytical and adaptable. Wei En studies spell structures, potionology, mechanical puppets, and Origin theory relentlessly, then applies what he learns with careful resource management. He is willing to conceal information, negotiate with dangerous factions, and assume false identities when necessary. 38 73 157

Despite his ruthlessness toward enemies, Wei En protects those he considers his own. He refuses to abandon or harm Tina because of her Calamity nature, treats Shawa with empathy despite her history as an experiment, and values the companionship of his Origin Sub-entities. 56 283 295

Abilities & Skills

System Panel

Wei En possesses a System Panel that rewards him with Survival Points, attributes, and other gains for surviving dangerous phenomena, mental scans, killing intent, corruption, and combat encounters. He spends Survival Points to improve spells, skills, knowledge, and attributes. 72 126 138

  • Enables rapid improvement far beyond ordinary wizard training.
  • Grants rewards for dangers that target or affect him, including supernatural perception and contamination. 72 117
  • Its origin is tied to the powers placed within Wei En by Lister and the sealed lands. 466

Ghost Meditation Method and Origin Sub-entities

Wei En’s Ghost Meditation Method produces autonomous Origin Sub-entities, initially represented by Little Ashi heads. Their meditation strengthens him, while rune imprints allow them to operate distinct spell systems. 6 36 397

  • The Soul-Devouring Rune makes the sub-entities extensions of Wei En’s body and soul, allowing direct control over them. 36
  • His initial sub-entities include Ghost, Driver, Red Heart/Red Ghost, and Secret Lord. 55 126
  • Swift is assigned the Fate Divination system and connected to the River of Fate. 396
  • The Ghost Meditation Method reaches Level 7, raising his total number of Origin Sub-entities to sixteen. 397
  • After becoming a Great Wizard, his sub-entities can cast spells independently. 278

Spirit Devouring Method

The Spirit Devouring Method allows Wei En and his sub-entities to devour suitable materials and Origins, converting them into mental power or absorbing Origin power from defeated targets. 37 157

  • Its Soul-Devouring Rune enables specific elements to be swallowed and transformed into mental power. 37
  • It can absorb the Origins of defeated extraordinary beings, substantially accelerating Wei En’s growth. 157 339
  • It cannot devour every target; Wei En fails when attempting to devour a Deep Sea Behemoth’s Origin. 179

Death God Spell System

By combining spell runes with the Origin Rune of Death God Oranair, Wei En gains altered versions of his spells and the ability to grant machinery a lethal Death Trait. 52 55

  • Mechanical Box (Death God) stores machinery and grants attacks effects such as Plague, Calamity, and Aging, potentially causing instant death. 55
  • Undead Transformation turns suitable corpses or undead creatures into Death Servants under his control. 289 354
  • Undead Summoning can summon undead creatures; with sufficient mental power, Wei En summons multiple Legendary Rank undead. 52 378
  • Corpse Explosion, Undead Claw, and other Death God-fused spells form the core of his offensive arsenal. 102 179 400

Spirit Fusion

Spirit Fusion merges Origin Sub-entities with Wei En’s Origin, allowing him to access and refine their spell systems directly. 265 339

  • Increases control over fused spell systems and permits minute adjustments to spell power. 339
  • Raises the spell level of the corresponding system while fused; Ghost enhances the Undead Spell System and Red Ghost enhances the Flesh Strengthening System. 339
  • Can transfer injuries to fused Origin Sub-entities. 265
  • Requires substantial Origin power to fuse spell rune imprints. 295

Deception

Wei En’s innate Deception talent derives from the Loft Family’s transplanted Eyes of Deception. It develops from Psychological Control into the more powerful Word Spirit ability. 173 370

  • Psychological Control influences emotions, decisions, beliefs, and actions through words and body language. 173
  • Word Spirit consumes Origin to alter a target’s perception or impose a false reality, such as compelling Alais to surrender Tina’s controlling “key.” 278 282
  • Can create convincing doppelgängers and manipulate groups into conflict. 267 362
  • Its transformations may be temporary and unstable; a Mechanical Undead briefly turned Legendary Rank before attacking Wei En and dissipating. 278

Fate Divination

Wei En imprints the Fate Divination system onto Swift and uses its spells to access or receive warnings from the River of Fate. 396

  • Mark of Fate connects Swift to the River of Fate. 396
  • The River provides prophetic warnings, including notice of the Twilight Cult’s attack on Alexei Island. 399
  • Fate Guidance reveals relevant future and present fate fragments, though the River may withhold information. 459

Flesh Strengthening and Physical Combat

Wei En can convert attributes through Spirit Conversion and combine Flesh Strengthening spells with his Origin power for overwhelming close-range combat. 166 353

  • Heart of Flesh scales his Resilience with Mental Level; at Level 6, every additional Mental Level grants 0.5 Resilience. 434
  • Boiling Blood temporarily elevates his physical power to that of a mid-level Legendary Wizard. 354
  • Wall of Solidity reinforces his body, skin, muscles, and bones. 176 177
  • He killed Legendary Rank Transcendents Douglas and Hazel through amplified physical strength and Spirit Devouring. 353 354

Firearms, Potions, and Mechanical Puppets

Wei En supplements wizardry with firearms, potion-making, mechanical construction, and rune research. 68 69 126

  • Ballistic Control allows him to control bullet trajectories and add spin to increase projectile power. 126
  • Creates Enlightenment, Healing, Mental Defense, and Anti-Aberration Potions. 69 126
  • Reaches Potionology Mastery and develops Mechanical Puppets and Mechanical Undead. 398 457
  • Uses the Cornerstone spell to animate mechanical constructs, including a Steel-Armored Knight, Shadow Hunter, and Mechanical Spider. 378

Perfect Replication

Perfect Replication is a specialty that allows Wei En to copy a target into an avatar-like form and gain access to that target’s secrets. 452

  • He uses it against McAllister during the latter’s attempted ascension to godhood. 452
  • Its successful replication changes the balance of the confrontation by exposing McAllister’s hidden information. 452
