Personality

Dai Mubai is domineering, prideful, and accustomed to using his status and strength to intimidate others. He attempts to seize what he wants by force, including a booked suite at the Rose Hotel. 36

He is also lecherous and dissolute, repeatedly harassing women alongside Ma Hongjun. His lack of restraint leads directly to his humiliation and injury at Zhou Tao's hands. 27 28 36

Despite his behavior, Dai Mubai can be assertive when confronting authority. He publicly challenges Yu Xiaogang's claimed theoretical credentials and questions how someone permanently stalled at rank 29 could have developed such theories through personal experimentation. 34

Dai Mubai is intensely concerned with face and status. Even after Zhou Tao overwhelms him, he repeatedly refuses to acknowledge the difference in strength, boasts that he was holding back, and seeks reinforcements rather than accepting defeat. 37 38

Conflict with Zhou Tao and Dugu Yan

Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun encounter Zhou Tao and Dugu Yan, then harass Dugu Yan. Dai Mubai dismisses Zhou Tao as a weak child, attacks him with White Tiger Intense Light Wave, and is swiftly restrained by Zhou Tao's Thunderous Hell Prison Vine. 27

When Ma Hongjun attempts to assist, Zhou Tao uses the bound Dai Mubai as an obstacle. Ma Hongjun's Phoenix Fire Line strikes Dai Mubai in the lower abdomen, leaving him severely injured and reportedly rendering him a eunuch. Dai Mubai then invokes his Star Luo imperial status to threaten Zhou Tao, but Zhou Tao responds by electrocuting both him and Ma Hongjun until they beg for mercy. 27 28

Witness to Zhao Wuji's Defeat

Dai Mubai witnesses Zhou Tao fight Zhao Wuji, Shrek Academy's Soul Sage-level vice dean. Seeing Zhao Wuji repeatedly suppressed within the Golden Earth Dragon Array leaves Dai Mubai shocked, humiliated, and aware that his own strength is insignificant beside Zhou Tao's. 30

Compensation for the Restaurant Damage

After the confrontation causes extensive damage, Zhou Tao demands compensation. Dai Mubai agrees to pay, surrendering a substantial portion of his funds; the payment totals fifty-five thousand Gold Soul Coins, including fifty thousand described as Zhou Tao's windfall. 31

Dispute with Yu Xiaogang

When Yu Xiaogang arrives at Shrek Academy, he dismisses Dai Mubai's talent by comparing him unfavorably to Zhou Tao. Dai Mubai resents the treatment but initially restrains himself for Flender's sake. 33

He later challenges Yu Xiaogang directly, repeating rumors that Yu's martial-soul theories were stolen from Spirit Hall and questioning Yu's ability to conduct research while permanently stuck at level 29. The confrontation creates a rift within the academy. 34

Rose Hotel Confrontation

Several years later, Dai Mubai remains in Suotuo City and attempts to seize a suite already booked by Zhou Tao, Dugu Yan, and Ye Lingling. He pressures the hotel manager to transfer the room and threatens Zhou Tao when he refuses. 36

Dai Mubai escalates the confrontation by demanding that Dugu Yan and Ye Lingling accompany him for several days. Before he can finish his threat, Zhou Tao kicks him into a wall. 36

Refusing to concede, Dai Mubai identifies himself as a level 37 Battle Soul Elder and manifests his Evil-Eyed White Tiger. His White Tiger Vajra Transformation, White Tiger Intense Light Wave, and White Tiger Protection Barrier all fail against Zhou Tao's Mighty Vajra Vine. Zhou Tao leaves a scar across his cheek and mocks him as a “sick tiger.” 37 38

Dai Mubai then flees to Shrek Academy to seek assistance. There, Zhu Zhuqing mistakes his injuries for evidence that he has been visiting pleasure houses, condemns his conduct, and slaps him after their argument. 38

Failed Retaliation Against Zhou Tao

When Dai Mubai encounters Zhou Tao again with Tang San and the other Shrek students, Zhou Tao immediately slaps him into a wall for once again provoking him. Dai Mubai remains unable to overcome his fear and hesitates to act while Zhou Tao fights Tang San. 40 43 44

Dai Mubai attempts to retreat unnoticed, but Zhou Tao intercepts him and strikes him into a wall with a punch. Zhou Tao then attacks Dai Mubai's lower abdomen with electrified vines, intending to correct what he considers an earlier failure to stop Dai Mubai from harassing women. 44

Zhou Tao subsequently tests the Shrek students' strength, defeating Dai Mubai, Tang San, Ma Hongjun, and Xiao Wu with overwhelming ease. 45

Renewed Hostility at Shrek Academy

When Zhou Tao arrives at Shrek Academy with Dugu Bo, Dai Mubai, Tang San, and Ma Hongjun react with immediate hostility and seek revenge for their defeats. Dai Mubai urges Tang San to attack Zhou Tao, but Tang San advises restraint because they are no match for him. 50

Dai Mubai attempts to enlist Li Yusong by claiming that Zhou Tao crippled the three Shrek students and insulted the academy, while omitting their own role in provoking the conflicts. 50

Later, Dai Mubai views Yu Tianheng favorably after learning that Yu Tianheng also opposes Zhou Tao, believing that enemies of Zhou Tao should be Shrek's allies. 59

Defeat by the Imperial Fighting Team

During the confrontation with the Imperial Fighting Team, Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun attack Zhou Tao together, but Zhou Tao blocks their attacks without using soul skills. Dai Mubai is injured along with the rest of the Shrek team as Zhou Tao dismantles their coordinated strategy. 87

Dai Mubai joins Xiao Wu and Ma Hongjun in another assault, attacking Zhou Tao with full force. Zhou Tao breaks through his offense, sends him flying, and then kicks his face hard enough to snap his nose bridge. 88

The resulting injury permanently disfigures Dai Mubai. He and Tang San are left with collapsed nose bridges, and Dai Mubai breaks down upon seeing his altered appearance before swearing hatred and vengeance against Zhou Tao and the Imperial Fighting Team. 91 92

Soul Ancestor Match Against Yu Tianxin

By a later match, Dai Mubai has advanced to the Soul Ancestor realm and possesses four soul rings. He clashes head-on with Yu Tianxin, but the disparity in martial soul quality and Soul Power forces him back almost immediately. 96
