Personality

Zhao Wuji is initially arrogant and ruthless, stepping in to punish Zhou Tao after Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun are defeated. He is nevertheless cautious enough to question Zhou Tao's background before fully committing to the confrontation. 28

His confidence collapses once Zhou Tao's Golden Ancient Tree techniques repeatedly neutralize his attacks. Faced with an opponent he cannot overcome, Zhao Wuji chooses survival over pride, retreats from the battlefield, and later formally surrenders. 29 30

Afterward, he attempts to portray Zhou Tao as a threat to Shrek Academy and encourages hostility toward him, though his own students recognize that Zhao Wuji had been decisively defeated. 33

Despite his hostility toward Zhou Tao, Zhao Wuji is pragmatic about Shrek's disadvantage. After the battle, he concludes that Shrek would need to reunite the Golden Iron Triangle to have a chance of opposing Zhou Tao. 31

Confrontation with Zhou Tao

After Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun harass Dugu Yan and Zhou Tao, Zhou Tao incapacitates both students with lightning. Zhao Wuji arrives to defend Shrek Academy's reputation and attacks Zhou Tao despite the latter's youth. 28

Zhao Wuji deploys Vajra Palm, gravity skills, and his Vajra Bear Avatar, initially breaking through several Golden Ancient Trees and injuring Zhou Tao. However, Zhou Tao regenerates the destroyed trees, heals through their life force, and turns the battlefield into a sustained Golden Earth Dragon Array. 28 29

Zhou Tao develops the Wood Shield Technique, Wood Dragon Technique, and Wood Human Technique during the fight. Zhao Wuji realizes he cannot win an extended battle, but is trapped by Golden Dragons and the Golden Giant until he forcibly breaks out and retreats. 29 30

Exhausted and fearing further injury, Zhao Wuji surrenders, admits that he failed to discipline his students, and accepts Zhou Tao's mercy. 30

Shrek Academy's Response

Following the defeat, Zhao Wuji identifies Zhou Tao as a major threat to Shrek Academy. He later joins Yu Xiaogang in attempting to turn the academy against Zhou Tao, although he also directly states that Zhou Tao showed no signs of being an evil soul master. 33

Zhao Wuji regards the reunion of Flender, Yu Xiaogang, and Liu Erlong's Golden Iron Triangle as Shrek's potential means of standing against Zhou Tao. 31
