History

Oscar was admitted to Shrek Academy because of his unusual food-type martial soul and Innate Full Soul Power. Dai Mubai later explains that candidates with exceptionally strange martial souls could be accepted despite ordinary standards. 88

When Tang San and the others arrive for the academy entrance examination, Oscar sells sausages near the queue and openly leers at Xiao Wu and the Zhu sisters. Tang San attacks him with Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon, repeatedly slamming him into the ground until Oscar begs for mercy. 85 He is subsequently ordered to guide the successful candidates to the fourth examination round while still injured and limping. 86

Dai Mubai forces Oscar to reveal his sausage-making incantation before the girls, humiliating him and exposing the lewd wording behind his martial soul. 87 88 Oscar later shaves off his beard and becomes convinced that his appearance will attract the new female students, but Ning Rongrong and the Zhu sisters find him effeminate and irritating. 103

While assigned to run twenty laps with Ning Rongrong, Oscar attempts to use sausages to pressure her into accepting his help. Ning Rongrong strikes him in the crotch and completes the task alone; Oscar fails to complete even a third of the required distance. 110 111

Oscar initially seeks a thousand-year third Soul Ring from a Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent, but the attempt fails after Serpent Grandmother contests Shrek's claim. 134 139 Later, Zhu Huang manipulates the serpent into attacking Oscar, tearing off his right leg. 140 He recovers from the injury but retains a limp. 171

On a second attempt to gain a third Soul Ring, Oscar kills a Death Pepper tree. Shi Nian manipulates its blood to poison Oscar with lethal chili toxin. Unable to safely absorb the approximately 1,400-year ring while poisoned, Oscar is forced to absorb a roughly 400-year Little Death Pepper Soul Ring to survive. 173 174 175 176 The ring neutralizes the poison and advances him to level 31, but Oscar believes its low age has permanently diminished his future potential. 176
