World Martial Arts Tournament

Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, it was time for the Buu Saga.

Gohan was already sixteen. Originally, he had not planned on going to school; studying and reading at home would have been enough. But Gogeta told Chi-Chi that Gohan could not stay home reading all the time. He needed to go out, make some friends, and experience the warmth of ordinary life.

In private, Gogeta secretly told Chi-Chi that Gohan might even bring home a girlfriend or something. Chi-Chi immediately made the decision and sent Gohan to school in the nearest city.

And so, Gohan began high school.

With Cell gone, Mr. Satan had not become the hero who saved the world. He was only somewhat famous, but with the title of World Champion, he was still a wealthy man in his own right.

Just like in the original story, Gohan and Videl became classmates. The difference was that Gohan had not been influenced by the Ginyu Force and developed a warped sense of aesthetics. Furthermore, under Master Roshi and Gogeta's influence, he did not choose to hide his identity as he had before. Whenever villains appeared, Gohan would show up and settle everything.

As a result, Gohan and Videl's relationship progressed by leaps and bounds. Everything fell naturally into place. Gohan was not like Goku, a clueless blockhead who knew nothing. He occasionally read books about romance, so he understood these things quite well! Hehe.

The two families soon met and settled the details. In the end, they decided that the pair would get married after finishing high school and university.

That weekend, Videl flew over to Gohan's house to see him. Gohan was reading Tights's latest novel. When he saw Videl, he happily went over, took her hand, and led her to the sofa before asking, "Videl, what brings you here?"

Videl lightly smacked Gohan's arm and said, "After many years, the World Martial Arts Tournament is being held again. It's scheduled for one month from now."

"Your father was the champion two tournaments ago, and my father was the champion of the last one."

"We can't let this tournament's title go to someone else."

"So I've decided to enter."

"Gohan, are you going to participate?"

Videl brought up the World Martial Arts Tournament, said she had decided to enter, and asked whether Gohan would participate as well.

"I won't be entering. I'll cheer for you when the time comes."

To Gohan, competing would just mean crushing weak opponents. It was boring. He would rather read more books and train more.

"That makes sense. You're so strong, Gohan. There'd be no point in you entering anyway."

Videl knew how strong Gohan was, so she did not force him to participate.

"Then please guide my training for the next month, Gohan!"

Videl asked Gohan to train her.

Gohan agreed without a second thought.

The two took a month-long leave from school and began training.

At Gogeta's house, the three children were roughhousing and playing. Buu sat on the floor eating pudding as he watched them.

Because of Gogeta, Trunks was a few months older than he had originally been, while Goten had not changed.

By now, Ais had become the leader among the children. All three could transform into Super Saiyans. Ais was the strongest, while Trunks and Goten were not far apart in strength.

The three children were never home, spending all day outside playing. Several times, they damaged other people's property, and the owners came knocking at their door.

Sigh, unruly children were really hard to discipline.

When they heard that Sister Videl wanted to enter the World Martial Arts Tournament, they clamored about wanting to go watch too, saying they wanted to cheer for Sister Videl.

Goku and Vegeta, that pair of rivals, had long since reached the level of Super Saiyan 3, and they were even stronger than in the anime. Broly was training hard and could now use his full strength without going berserk. However, Broly still could not transform into a Super Saiyan. Goku had tried teaching him, but it had not worked. Whenever Broly showed signs of transforming, he would begin to lose control. Perhaps his training was still insufficient.

Gogeta's power in his base form had long since broken through the heavens. He had even fused Super Saiyan 4 with God Ki, reaching Super Saiyan 4 Limit Breaker. He could also use Ultra Instinct while in Super Saiyan Blue or Super Saiyan 4, though he could not yet use it in Super Saiyan 4 Limit Breaker.

Gogeta felt that he could challenge Beerus now.

In the blink of an eye, another month passed, and the World Martial Arts Tournament began as scheduled.

Gohan walked down the street with his wife and the three children, each of them holding an ice cream.

As they walked, Goten suddenly bumped into someone, causing the ice cream in his hand to fall to the ground. Goten looked at the fallen ice cream, growing a little angry. He stared at the guy blocking his path, clenched his fists, and looked ready to hit him. However, a skinny man called that person away, and he left without even turning his head.

Gohan hurriedly stopped Goten, while Videl bought him another ice cream. Still, Gohan found it strange. Had that person not noticed Goten bumping into him? And Gohan had sensed a trace of evil energy from him.

"What's wrong, Gohan?"

Seeing Gohan deep in thought, Videl asked curiously.

"That person from earlier felt a little strange."

After hearing Videl's question, Gohan voiced what he felt.

"I don't really know how to describe it."

"It's fine. With you here, Gohan, even if he's a bad guy, he won't pose any threat."

Videl gave Gohan a sweet smile.

"You're right."

Gohan replied with a smile as well.

The group continued sightseeing for a while longer before hearing an announcement that registration for the adult division was about to begin. Videl went to line up, while Gohan took the three children into the spectator area.

Before long, Videl appeared in the contestants' area. The preliminaries were effortless for her.

Before long, the tournament began. The junior division competed first. Without Goten and Trunks participating, it was a little boring. In the end, an unknown kid took first place and claimed the ten-million prize.

Next came the adult division.

The announcer excitedly introduced the contestants.

"Next, please welcome contestant Panda and contestant So-and-so!"

"Contestant Panda immediately used a Mount Tai Crush, pinning his opponent to the ground! Contestant So-and-so is fighting back with all his might, but the gap is simply too great—it's completely useless! Contestant So-and-so can no longer struggle and has surrendered!!"

"Contestant Panda advances."

The announcer's passionate commentary drew thunderous cheers from the audience.

"Next!!"

"Please welcome contestant Shin and contestant So-and-so to the stage!"

"The match begins!"

"Contestant So-and-so attacks first, charging at contestant Shin. Contestant Shin remains where he is without making any move."

"Contestant Shin raises his hand and knocks contestant So-and-so out of the ring with a single chop."

"Amazing! He defeated his opponent in one move!!"

"Contestant Shin wins and advances to the next round!!"

Another wave of cheers erupted from the crowd.

Gohan watched Supreme Kai Shin's retreating back and found him rather interesting. This guy didn't seem like an ordinary person.

But why was he participating in the World Martial Arts Tournament? Suddenly, Gohan thought of the guy Goten had bumped into. Perhaps he had come for that person.

"Next, please welcome contestant Videl and contestant Spopovich!"

"Contestant Videl is the daughter of our previous champion, Mr. Satan. Like Mr. Satan himself, she is extremely formidable."
