Background / History

Beerus had Old Supreme Kai sealed within the Supreme Kai Sword, purportedly because he feared Old Supreme Kai would die. Old Supreme Kai was unaware of the true reason until Gogeta revealed it. 27

After Old Supreme Kai contacted Whis concerning Zamasu, Beerus agreed to handle Zamasu should he appear in their universe. Whis prevented Beerus from immediately acting against him, noting that Zamasu belonged to Universe 10 and should be dealt with by that universe. 28

Gogeta invited Beerus to Earth by appealing to its food and promised that Beerus could destroy both him and Earth if the food proved disappointing. Beerus and Whis accepted the invitation, arriving at Bulma's home to sample its cuisine. 28

Beerus later accepted Gogeta's challenge in the God of Destruction Realm. Despite Gogeta's successive transformations and absorption of destruction energy, Beerus overwhelmed him while using seventy percent of his strength. 29 30

Following the battle, Beerus allowed Whis to train Gogeta and the two Trunks. He remained in the God of Destruction Realm during their training and showed understated approval as Gogeta progressed toward Ultra Instinct. 30 31

Beerus later accompanied Gogeta's group to Planet Vampa to assess Broly. Though initially unconvinced, he eventually accepted Broly as a God of Destruction candidate after Gogeta emphasized the prestige of having such a fighter represent him. 36 38 39

Personality

Beerus is proud, dismissive, and easily provoked by challenges to his authority or strength. He initially considered Gogeta too weak to fight, threatened to destroy Earth if its food disappointed him, and scoffed at Gogeta's ambition to surpass him. 28 29 36

He enjoys combat against strong opponents. Gogeta's ability to absorb destruction energy and evolve during their battle surprised Beerus and made him eager to continue fighting. 29

Food is Beerus's most reliable weakness. Earth's cuisine rapidly won him over, leading him to compete with Gogeta in eating, accept instant noodles as payment after their battle, and repeatedly visit Earth for meals. 28 30 35

Though he maintains a haughty demeanor, Beerus recognizes talent. He approved of Gogeta's training progress, considered the Trunks potential God of Destruction candidates, and took a serious interest in Broly's potential. 31 36 38
